Need recommendations for _good_, honest, helpful lawyers and accountants based in the US, anywhere in the US. Bonus if they have experience with internet businesses and/or S-Corps. I'm not looking for the cheapest or the most expensive options. Thanks! [more inside]

Do you need to be a legally qualified person to send out legal letters (e.g. cease and desist etc) on behalf of yourself or someone else? Can you set up a business called Frednerk Legal Services if you don't have formal legal skills? What is the minimum you need to give any legal advice to people? [more inside]

For a friend: need resources for law firms or individual attorneys in Los Angeles who provide sliding scale/reduced cost (or even pro bono) services for a woman going through an increasingly acrimonious divorce. [more inside]

My band have been offered a contract from by a record company and want to get it checked out before we sign it.
Basically I'm looking for personal recommendations of entertainment lawyers in the UK. I don't just want to pick one out of the yellow pages if I can avoid it.

There was a thing going around the net last year, a list of when and how lawyers bill in the billable hours practice. $100 for thinking about your case while on the golf course, etc. Does anyone remember this or know how I'd find it again?

I'm in a long-term, gay relationship and looking to put together a will that puts me and my partner’s mind at ease before Civil Partnerships come into affect in the UK. The problem is, how does one go about putting together a will? What are people's experiences? Should I go to a lawyer specialising in gay relationships? And, if so, can anyone recommend a good one in the UK, London area?

How does one find a lawyer?
I'm skeptical of the online directories I can find with Google, as well as lawyers who are aggressively advertising. There must be a better way than picking one at random from the phone book. A friend looking for legal help with disability stuff has asked for my advice on this matter, and I turn to you, O MeFites.
