I need recommendations for an attorney in the Philadelphia area, who can handle divorce and custody cases where one party (myself) is a non-US citizen, who is here on a marriage-based Green Card. The Card itself is about 2 years old.

Asking the hivemind for recommendations for a patent lawyer. Friend (lives in Chicago but willing to consider lawyers from any jurisdiction) has questions about patentability of his idea and potentially needs a patent attorney to help him with the prior art search and nonprovisional patent. Please post your recommendations in the comments or send me MeFi mail. Thanks!

Can anyone recommend a lawyer in Rochester NY who can set-up a not-for-profit corporation for the "maker space" / community workshop we're starting? We'd like to find someone who's affordable, trustworthy and personable. And we'd like to get some personal recommendations instead of just a list of names from the bar association.

Received a notice that my contact information was subpoenaed from my ISP, since my IP was associated with copyright infringement (torrenting). Obviously, I need a lawyer, even though I haven't been sued (yet). Resources online mostly point to lawyers in NY, CA, and FL. I'm not in any of those places. What's the best way to find a lawyer who can represent me?

Another driver ran a red light and hit my car, leaving me with minor but permanent injuries. Their insurance company accepts liability and wants to settle, but their offer is about 20% lower than what I'm willing to accept. I've handled everything myself to this point (and have compiled 700+ pages of well-organized documentation), but the insurance company won't budge and it seems I'll need an attorney to negotiate the last 20%.

Could any of you familiar with the Los Angeles criminal courts system answer a few questions about how easy it is to "break in" as a newly arrived criminal defense attorney in L.A.?
