Halfway through my last year of law school and my partner of ~5 years has walked out. After months of trying to deal with an emotionally abusive relationship going seriously wrong, my life is decimated and my work for law review is behind and I'm getting angry emails all over the place. I'm having trouble just getting out of bed. Counselor through the university has let me vent a lot but I'm not feeling any better. Something needs to give, but how?

Law school: over the years you've considered going to law school but were always put off by the horror stories of unemployed JDs. As a PhD student in another field, you took related classes at the law school and worked with their social policy program. You now have the benefit of knowing you are suited to and enjoy the law school environment. You drop out of PhD program to save the world, take career assesment tests which show you are service and cause driven, and work through guides to the non-profit sector. Most of your dream jobs in non-profit either require or prefer a JD. If you have no desire or intention to ever work as a practicing attorney, be part of a firm, but instead want to have a job like "court program manager" for a justice non-profit, is law school the next step? Is it the only possible path? Do those unemployment numbers for law school grads reflect all grads or only those not hired to practice?

I am currently in the process of applying to law school. I am a strong writer and am not convinced I need a lot of help with my essay, I just want to have a totally independent third party who does this for a living read my essay and give me feed back. Can anyone recommend (or warn me of) any companies that provide this service?

Hi ,
I was wondering if any mefiers could help advise me on potentially choosing a certain module for my llb (undergraduate law) option.
I was thinking of choosing the legal writing and advocacy option, but I am not sure.
Has anyone any idea of what is usually expected in a module such as this? It strikes me as an option very similar that provided in American law schools. How are these usually assessed? The naive bone in me is entertaining the prospect of a slightly less harsh marking criteria compared to the substantive core modules I shall be studying as well; but I could be wrong.
My course book mentions the break down of the module as follows:
Legal Writing and Advocacy:
- Reflective Learning Journal (40%)
- Response to Consultation Document (30%)
- Oral Presentation 1 - (15%)
- Oral Presentation 2 - (15%)

I'm a 2L at a third tier law school in one part of the middle of nowhere. My same-sex partner is from a very different middle of nowhere that has distinguished itself as one of the sorts of middles of nowhere that we can actually get married in. We are provisionally considering moving. The job market's bad enough already, so... help!

I am 24 years old and am just having a tough time with life in general. One of my most specific problems is that I am currently in my second year of law school (the school is ranked right around 100) and I hate it. I don't know whether it would be best to finish my law degree, apply to a MBA program, or just drop out completely and get whatever job I can find and start working my way up.

She didn't like what she saw. What's the best course of action, to help out all of us? Long explanation follows.
