So I need some sound advice. I think I was harassed a number of months ago at a local YMCA by another member. I decided to file this complaint internally, and now I'm worried I'm being stonewalled. Normally I would let something like this slide, but I've decided to take up this cause because I think it's the honorable thing to do. If only because I am inspired by the anti-bullying movement. Do I have legal options? Can somebody with any experience or strength with this sort of thing help me figure out what exactly happened to me, and share what they did in a similar situation? Details within.

A friend works overseas for a US-based defence contractor. He's been involved in a somewhat work-related incident in his country of work and his employer is, long story short, refusing to advise him, maybe even turning against him. Lots of details we don't want to put on the internet. Need to find a good attorney in the US that has specialization in working with employment rights, particularly in international situations for US based entities (not sure if the defence contractor part is relevant or not). If state matters, pick Texas.

Hello Everyone,
So my car is currently impounded at a private tow lot in New York City as it has been for the past 5 weeks. I only received notification from the police department by mail in the past few days.
When I called up to the tow lot this morning and spoke with the general manager, he informed me that my car has already racked up almost $1400 (!) in storage fees at $27/day. (The police document said only $17/day). He also said that he had sent a package to me on 1/26, but I still haven't received it yet.

I run a retail business in Toronto, Canada. It's an independently owned business--like a mom and pop store. I need to fire someone because he's incompetent and his presence actually makes more work for the other staff. I have emailed and texted with this staff member (who has worked with us for 13 months) regarding his considerable transgressions but we do not have "paperwork" or "forms" in the traditional sense. His work never improves.
What exactly do I have to do to fire him without worrying about legal issues? Two weeks pay? Three? Does the firing need to be written in addition to verbal or is just verbal fine? What's the best way for me to cover my ass?

There are three of us who are starting a business next year and one of my future co-founders is insisting that everyone signs an employment contract stipulating that we stay at the company for at least three years. Contract violations haven't been discussed yet - the contract hasn't been written yet - but a hefty fine is likely. Is this type of contract common between co-founders? What other risks should I be aware of before/if signing this?

Legal ethics filter: I work in the computer lab at a public library in the midwest. A patron comes in semi-regularly and shows me his Florida State Bar ID as proof of identity. He is almost always doing work with legal documents, and often has clients with him. The Florida State Bar says that he has been a member for about six months, but he's ineligible to practice law in the state of Florida. Am I under any obligation to contact the Florida State Bar (or some other regulatory association), since I'm not in Florida?

some years back my father was re-married before his death. my father did not have a will in place and i am his only child. after his death the women he married ended contact with me sharing none of my fathers belongings etc. at the time i felt wronged, and as a young man i could not afford legal representation.
many years (over ten) have gone by, and i have mostly moved on with my life trying not to think of these events, but there still is a bit of anger inside. as his only child and living blood relation is there any way legally that i can gain access to as much as old photographs, clothing, or whatever small momentos that remain in her custody?

In late July my wife bought a bra from a national retail chain. She wore it one day and was left with a painful large welt/wound on both sides that made it uncomfortable to wear any bra for three weeks. When she explained what happened to the store, they put her in touch with their corporate offices. The welt/wound has mostly healed, although some red areas are still visible and there is some mild throbbing and more-than-occasional itching. She saw a dermatologist who said that there may be some permanent discoloration. The corporate rep indicated that they'd pay for the doctor's visit, although there really wasn't any out-of-pocket cost because the visit was covered by my insurance. Beyond this, can she expect some kind of compensation for the pain, inconvenience and continued problems? What's the best way to go about asking the company? Do we need a lawyer? How do we find one?
