Best college major for addressing climate change?

What kind of skill sets does one need to be of best help to addressing climate change? It would seem like the most obvious choice is to major in environmental science. Otherwise, maybe political science to deal with legislators and capital hill? Or "who cares what you study undergrad" and go to law school?

What is the most effective way to study in law school?

I've been given lots of conflicting advice about how one should approach the study of law. While I know the hoary old advice that one should do whatever works best for oneself holds true, I hope that the collective wisdom of former law students has more insight to offer than that! [more inside]

Legal Career Advice

I am looking for some career advice regarding search techniques and information about non-traditional legal jobs that I may be overlooking. I am interested in international law, environmental law, administrative law, and trade and investment law. I have work experience in international law and have also lived and studied abroad. Prior to law school I worked in finance for four years (my undergraduate degree is in international finance), I am located in the Northeast, and I am awaiting results from the bar exam which I took this past July. Deciding to transition away from the legal profession-- too soon?

I'm a law student in Ontario, just about done 2 years out of 3. I absolutely hate the academic aspect of it, and I'm pretty miserable. I didn't particularly enjoy the practice experiences I've had either, at 3 different legal-aid type clinics working as a student in family law, criminal law, and landlord/tenant matters. I have invested a lot of money into pursuing this law degree. Should I be giving serious thought to finding something else to do with my life as soon as I graduate, or should I stick it out and work my hardest to try to get a paying job in the legal profession, in the hopes that I will be able to pay off my student loan debt? Law school or family?

My husband is a 1L at a top-ten school, and we have a 16-month-old daughter. I'm a former librarian staying at home for now, taking a couple of classes in the fall. Finals are next week, and he wants me to take care of our daughter full time or take her away altogether. Is this reasonable? Am I being selfish for asking him to help me out an hour a day? Help me decide what I should do when I grow up.

About to graduate from law school, planned to go right to work at a firm, got a last minute opportunity to interview with a magistrate judge in US District Court. OK, so I know what the Magistrate judge does, but day to day, what does his clerk do? Really, anyone with first hand experience (or second hand, even): is there much time to see the proceedings in court, are you doing paperwork all day, are you drafting parts of opinions or just doing research. I know much of this is individual depending on how the judge runs his courtroom, but what kind of year might one expect to have in terms of hours, workload, job satisfaction, type of work, etc.

Recommendations needed for online law schools in Louisiana

I am interested in pursuing a degree in law. There are no law schools where I live and am too settled to uproot. What do mefites think about online law programs? Legitamacy, practicality, etc? Any suggestions on one over another? Personal experiences? One other complication is I live in Louisiana (where our law code is a little bit idiosyncratic). Does this affect national online law school choices? TIA
