My husband is a 1L at a top-ten school, and we have a 16-month-old daughter. I'm a former librarian staying at home for now, taking a couple of classes in the fall. Finals are next week, and he wants me to take care of our daughter full time or take her away altogether. Is this reasonable? Am I being selfish for asking him to help me out an hour a day? About to graduate from law school, planned to go right to work at a firm, got a last minute opportunity to interview with a magistrate judge in US District Court.
OK, so I know what the Magistrate judge does, but day to day, what does his clerk do?
Really, anyone with first hand experience (or second hand, even): is there much time to see the proceedings in court, are you doing paperwork all day, are you drafting parts of opinions or just doing research. I know much of this is individual depending on how the judge runs his courtroom, but what kind of year might one expect to have in terms of hours, workload, job satisfaction, type of work, etc.

Am deciding between three law schools. One school offered me the least amount of money, and that school is lower in ranking than the other two. I do like the school and its location. What is a sincere and appropriate way to ask the admissions people for more (or equal) money to attend their school than the other two I am looking at? What is the best way to go about asking? Advice? Thank you!

I am interested in pursuing a degree in law. There are no law schools where I live and am too settled to uproot. What do mefites think about online law programs? Legitamacy, practicality, etc? Any suggestions on one over another? Personal experiences?
One other complication is I live in Louisiana (where our law code is a little bit idiosyncratic). Does this affect national online law school choices?
TIA

Applied to law school, looking to do work in human rights or civil liberties - but my info base is low. Just need more first hand information. Would love to hear about attorneys who love what they do - or if you know an lawyer who loves what they do. What kind of law? What does their/your work entail? Or sites that can give me further information. Thank you!!

I'm a recent graduate of a top 50 undergraduate school with a 3.6 GPA, a major in history and a minor in philosophy, and a 170 LSAT. LSAC says I have around a 50% chance of getting into NYU or Columbia, both of which interest me. I know this is just a representation of the number of students with comparable scores that get in. What determines whether I fall on the good 50% or the bad 50%? Is it extracirriculars (I have none), work experience (I have none), or the prestige of the undergraduate school (decent, but not great)? Do I have a good shot at these schools or should I just save my money and aim a little lower?

I want to acquire a law degree for the best value (in terms of quality and cost). How much will earning a masters degree first enhance my qualification to a prestigious school? The second question I have is how much a masters degree will enhance my qualification for scholarships? There is no question that a masters would make me a better law student and enhance my education; however, I am wondering whether the financial investment in grad school is worth it for what I want to accomplish.

I unwisely coasted through college, and here I sit, one year later, Communication degree and 2.8 GPA, grinding it out from menial job to menial job. I'm not here to make excuses, but rather to make up for past mistakes, as I finally discovered that inner drive that's pushing for me to pursue a career in Law. Other than acing the LSATs and getting some law firm internships under my belt, what other sorts of steps can I take to buffer my standing before applying to Law school?
