I picked up my laundry from the laundromat yesterday--I did wash-and-fold this time because I didn't feel like dealing with the laundromat on a holiday weekend--and my favorite purple shirt has a bunch of dark splotches on the front. It looks like it just got water dripped on it or something, except that the spots don't dry, and they also don't go away with mere water. What should I do? [more inside]

So, I am wearing a dress today that I haven't worn since last summer, because it's a warmer weather dress (a green gingham version of this dress
, actually). Upon changing a work from my riding clothes, I discovered an odd, yellow stain on it. The stain didn't respond to soap and water and I couldn't figure out what it was. Then I noticed a similar residue in the pocket. So now I figure that the last time I wore it, I left some multivitamins in my pocket, and washed and dried (and somehow ironed
without noticing this? I need better light in my place) the dress with the multivitamins in the pocket.
Do I have any hope of lifting the stain now after all this time and after heat has been applied? What should I do to improve my chances of getting it without destroying the fabric?

I've had a black leather jacket for four or five years, and the jacket itself is probably twenty years old. I never had it stain anything until I began wearing white button-up shirts to work, but now I have a bunch of shirts with dirty collars that don't wash out. What can I do? [more inside]

I bought this old Escada sweater
at a thrift store for a few bucks. It had a few small brown stains that I figured I could live with, but after I got it home I realized that it had a HUGE yellowish armpit stain on one side. What (if anything) can be done? [more inside]

I have mutant sweat that seemingly alters the color of every shirt I own: whites turn sweat-stain-beige and most colors get bleached. Can I do anything to prevent or treat it, or am I stuck wearing the three colors that aren't affected? [more inside]

I left half of a ticket stub, much like this
one, in the shirt pocket of my seersucker button up and put it in the wash, then dried it without noticing. It left an orange stain about the size of a half dollar coin, what can I do to try and make sure it will come out next time I wash it?

I just poured a cupful of dark blue liquid detergent and purple liquid stain remover over a load of white towels.
Setting aside the admonition that I should have poured the detergent in BEFORE the clothes: why doesn't dark blue detergent turn white towels blue? I mean it obviously doesn't. But it seems counterintuitive. What kind of coloring is added to detergent that allows it to be blue and pretty but wash right away?

A load of laundry i just took out of the dryer appears to be completly ruined. I left a ball point pen in a pocket and it went thru the washer/dryer spilling all of it's horrible blackness all over my clothes. Is there any hope????? Any suggestions for attempting to treat them? I've googled for it but only found treatments pre-wash..
I never thought i would have such an attachment to clothes but a few of them are new and a few of them have sentimental value from a few triathlons I have done.. any help would be MUCH appreciated!

Damn it all to hell, I've gone and "pinked" both pairs of jeans I own by washing them with something red in the same load. Clearly, my innate stupidity is incurable, but is there hope for my pants? I think I'd rather walk into work in my boxers than swish in on twin ringlets of pink fringe. [more inside]

How do you remove silicone based lube from clothing/sheets/cotton based material? Traditional stain removers have not helped. Ammonia was suggested, but I've no clue what that would entail doing and whether everything I owned was destined to smell like that forever.
