I am trying to run an old Samsung ML-2510 laser printer off a USB port with a desktop running Windows 8. I have downloaded the appropriate universal print driver and Samsung Easy Printer Manager. The printer installed and ran fine when I first bought it (used), but after a month or two the computer wouldn't recognize it for whatever reason. After a day of fiddling and installing and uninstalling drivers, changing USB ports, etc., I can get it to run perfectly. I then print off my stuff. The next time I go to use it, the computer can't find it and won't run it. Anyone have this problem with a computer recognizing a printer intermittently? I can understand it not working at all, but why does it work perfectly and then quit working, apparently at random intervals?

You know that power surge that happens when you turn on a laser printer and it sucks up as much juice as it can? Are there laser printers that don't do that?
I'm replacing a Brother HL-2170W. I need good quality monochrome printing. No scanning, photos, etc. Small and quiet are pluses. Wireless is a must. I'll use it with a MacBook.
Every laser printer I've had dims the lights, etc., when it powers up. What should I look for in the specs to identify printers that minimize this? Wattage? Are guides/reviews online that address this issue?

Are there (preferably laser) printers designed to print on smaller paper than normal laser printers? Like onto 3x5 cards?

How can I clean the blue toner that is apparently spilled inside my (HP Color LaserJet 2605dn) printer? All of my color prints are smeared with blue ink. It does not seem to affect grayscale printing.

College student looking to buy a laser printer. I've only needed to print papers in black ink during my past two years of college. But what's this - I can buy a color laser printer for the same price as a regular one? Are there any downsides to a rarely-used color roller?

How can I measure ink coverage? I know my toner will yield 3,000 pages at 5% coverage, but I want to know what coverage is typical for the pages I print. (Found PC product, seeking Mac or web-based software) [more inside]

Is there an issue with putting a laser printer (Lexmark c522) onto a simple timer that just kills the power at night, and lets it power up again in the morning? Am I going to damage components significantly?

I picked up an HP LaserJet IIIp printer a few days ago. Its great, I love how the output looks, but any paper that goes through (regardless of which output tray I use) gets ruffled. I just tried an envelope, and the envelope came out with ridges every 1/2" or so. This can't be right... any idea whats wrong and how to fix it?
