USB 2.0/PCMCIA Adapters?

I've got an older laptop, and would like to connect a couple of USB 2.0 devices to it (the laptop only has USB 1.0 ports). Is there some kind of USB 2.0/PCMCIA adapter? Ideally, it would plug into my PCMCIA socket, and have a cable leading out to a large USB 2.0 hub (with 6-8 USB ports). Does such a thing exist?

No Standby Option on Laptop

I've just reformatted and reinstalled Windows XP (SP2) on a laptop. When I go to turn it off, the "standby" button is greyed out and not an option I can click on. What's going on, and how do I get my laptop to standby mode? [more inside]

Laptop Reformatting

I just got a new used laptop, and it has a lot of error messages showing up, so I want to completely clean it up before I start using it. Is it better to use the manufacturer's Quick Restore discs (Compaq), or to reformat the HD completely and install an operating system clean? [more inside]
