Idiot's guide to replacing my Windows Vista (don't judge me!) laptop hardrive?. Preferably by "cloning" the old drive onto the new one (I suspect via another external hard drive / backup).

Laptop (running Vista) connects to home wireless network full strength but not to internet. The other laptop (OS X) connects to internet wirelessly no problem. The Vista laptop can connect the internet via ethernet cable. This seems to be a common problem but i cannot find an appropriate solution [more inside]

I have a Toshiba laptop running Vista (alas) and a recent spate of problems (extremely slow operations, mostly) seemed to have possibly been caused by fragmentation. I tried defragging, with mixed success. [more inside]

I am looking for a signal booster that will play nicely on my laptop which has Vista. People recommended EnGenius USB Device but from what I gathered on Amazon, it does not work past XP. I basically need something that I can take with my on the go.
Intel GMA 4500MHD / Intel Wi-Fi / 10/100 Eth
is what came with my laptop. Is there a signal booster compatible with Vista?

I love Vista, hate the way it handles flash drives. Obi-Wan, Help Me!
I use a Vista laptop and an XP desktop for work. When I copy anything from the XP machine on my flash drive and use it on my Vista Laptop, it won't let me delete or re-save it after editing, saying the file is Read-Only.
Even if I copy something to it from the Vista machine it always asks to confirm things. I know UAC is a pain in the neck but is there anyway around it's behaviour on flashdrives?

I bought a Toshiba Satellite with Vista two weeks ago - until today everything was fine. Then the music came to an end. Itunes freezes on 0:00 and Windows Media Player simply won't play any of it - including the sample music that came with the machine. As of yesterday I was listening happily - how do I fix this? I was talking with a friend who owns a Macbook. She was talking about how she doesn't really use it for much and is looking for something newer. I mentioned that I just got my laptop but that I didn't like Vista and have been interested in Macs. Long story short, we came to the conclusion that we might each like to trade out laptops. I'm wondering if this sounds like a fair trade: [more inside]
