Looking for a good backpack for a 17" MacBook Pro I'm looking for recommendations for a durable, long-lasting, and comfortable backpack that can contain a MacBook Pro, as well as the rest of my geek gear. I'm not a HUGE gadget freak (I don't carry an entire IT closet on my back), but I do have some accessories, and some occasional books. I am not fond of shoulder slings or messenger bags. The 17" requirement makes things a bit trickier.

I've found several bag suggestions online, but need feedback on which are actually good (outside of on-site reviews). I live in NYC, but the Apple Store doesn't have a wide variety in stock - I'm trying to think outside the box for better bags that might not be sold in retail. One of the sites I've seen is Tom Bihn's Brain Bag - has anyone had any experiences with them?

Best Checkpoint-Friendly Laptop Bag? Hello. I'm trying to answer the "what do you want for your Birthday question" and was hoping for some help finding a good Checkpoint-Friendly Laptop Bag.

My last laptop bag was this Belkin one strap bag (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000S5CY92) which I purchased because I was looking for a comfortable strap.
(The zipper broke recently, I don't know what I do to zippers. That makes 3 bags and one ski coat with broken zippers I need to get fixed)

My criteria are:
1- TSA Checkpoint friendly. I don't want to take my laptop out of the bag.
2- Comfortable strap and otherwise comfortable to carry. I strongly prefer a strap that is well padded and in one piece. As opposed to those crappy badly padded sleeves that move and twist all around the strap.
3- Must hold my Dell D620 (14 inch scree) but no be so big that it's unreasonable to occasionally travel with my Acer netbook.
4-Well organized pockets and components. A key clip is a great extra.
5- If it's a backpack it shouldn't look *too* kid like b/c I will take it into business meetings. But I'll sacrifice looks for comfort like I did with the Belkin backpack.
6- Price- I was thinking between $60-150.

I'll start with this bag: Skooba R101-101 (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001ET6P28) as a starting point. But I'm not sure on the strap. Any better ones out there?

Desperately Seeking Double Laptop Bag

Can anybody recommend a laptop bag that will hold two laptops? I have two laptops I need to carry but the problem is that they're both widescreen, so larger than your normal laptop and therefore don't fit a normal bag.

I carry all relevant cords, 2 small mice and misc. other items in the bag, so the roomier the better.

And of course, price is a concern, although not a dealbreaker.

I realize I may be asking for too much, but a "cute/pretty" bag wouldn't hurt either. (But I won't be too picky.)

Yes, I've Googled and looked around a bit but apparently my Google skills are failing me.

Laptop rain jacket?

Laptop rain cover/bag... does such a thing exist? I'm going to be covering (live streaming in this case) some events outside, one or more of which could take place in light rain or during passing showers. I have a cover for the camera and can bring a small TV tray to elevate the laptop but I'm not sure how to waterproof it.

The only option I've come up with are the XXL Ziploc bags (2ft x 2.7ft) but would condensation be an issue? Would it impede my aircard signal?

Googling only turned up rainproof bags for transport, I'll need to at least be able to use the trackpad, ideally the keyboard as well. I'll be using a 15" MacBook Pro fwiw.

I bought my wife a unibody aluminum 13" Macbook for Christmas. She loves the laptop a lot but only has an old fashioned clamshell briefcase style carrying case for laptops, which was designed for 8 pound, 15.4" screen lap monsters. Can anyone recommend a female specific purse/laptop bag that is stylish and designed specifically for the 13" Macbook, or a vendor of an assortment of different styles of such bags?

Boston area laptop bag store?

I need a durable waterproof laptop bag for under $100, and I need to buy it in the Boston area today. My son is off to college, and for some reason we haven't had the chance to go laptop bag shopping yet. No time to order online plus he would rather see it before we buy one. I would like to go with him today and buy one in the Boston area (preferably north of Boston rather than the city if that is possible).

He wants a messenger style, and it will need to be durable as he is a well known destroyer of bags. It needs to hold a Dell Latitude D630 and a selection of textbooks (one or two at a time I guess). It would be great if it was waterproof to withstand the New England weather. And hopefully around $100, but i would be willing to invest more for one that will last.

So does anyone know of a good brick and mortar we should go check out later? I'll check back if anyone needs more information to help out.

Which backpack fits my needs?

I'm looking for a travel backpack with removal daypack that is gadget friendly. I currently have an Eagle Creek Voyage 65L, which is just a tad too big for the regular 2-3 day trips I've been taking recently. Further, its removable daypack is slightly too small -- it fits my laptop, but has no other features to keep my gadgets (phones, chargers, cameras, iPods, etc) properly organized.

So... I'm looking for something new. It needs to be gadget friendly so I can remove the daypack with my laptop and other gear in it without having to lug my clothes everywhere.

Something smaller than 65L would be preferred: I need to be able to carry about 2-3 days worth of clothes in it at a time.

BagFilter: Looking for a camera bag for my DSLR that will also hold my smallish (13.3-inch) laptop if I need it to. Really, really prefer a messenger bag style. Also, I'm a guy. Would really love to invest in a camera bag to carry around my small collection of DSLR equipment. Ideally, would like to carry camera with one lens, an extra lens, and a small flash.

I'd really like it to have a compartment for my shiny Macbook, so I could bring that along when I need to. And, because it's not terribly easy to grab things from a backpack, I'd like a messenger bag.

Gumming up the works is the fact that I'm a guy, and not to sound too vain, but I don't want this bulky messenger bag to look girly.

Am I getting too specific to actually find something? What do you recommend?

leather laptop bag. where could I have one custom made? or can you recommend one to fit my needs? Im looking for a leather side bag that will fit my eee PC in the vertical orientation, and maybe a novel, but not be much bigger.

Does carrying my laptop in a roller bag damage the laptop, due to the vibration?

Because of an injury, I carry my laptop in one of those roller backpacks. I've heard that tiny vibrations (such as construction in the next office building) can be very damaging to computers. So does the vibration from the rolling on pavement potentially damage my laptop? Should I just suck it up and carry my heavy widescreen laptop on my back? Does keeping it in a neoprene sleeve help? Any tips on how I can keep the weight off my back, while preventing damage to my computer?

I sprained my ankle at one of those trampoline gyms: Sky High Sports in Santa Clara, CA. It's all fun until someone rips a tendon.

Seeking a fashionable men's laptop bag or backpack in a vertical format that is either retro vinyl or high quality leather. There have been a few very active bag discussions, but most only recommend bags in those three categories:

- techy black vinyl
- adventure rockclimber backpack
- bulky bicycle messenger

I'd like something of Jack Spade quality. Unfortunately they have no vertical bags. Also seen some great vintage vinyl bags (Puma-style) but none are vertical and made for laptops. The Nova Librarium is almost there, but a little too space-age.

I carry a 15-inch MacBook Pro and occasionally a camera and a few other small items, but I'd like to keep the bag a sleek as possible. Thank you!

I need a laptop bag. I've looked around the AskMe archives and I decided I want a crumpler bag. Seeing as a few people here seem to have them, I'd like to know what size bag my laptop might fit. I like the backpack type, specifically the Sheep Scarer/Base Toucher/Team Player design. What I'm not sure about is which one my laptop would fit as I have a 15.4 inch (wide)screen laptop. It measures (w) 363 x (d) 278 x (h) 24mm. Anyone own one and care to enlighten me?

(I'd prefer the smallest possible......)

Can anyone recommend the best bag for a gadget freak? I am an incurable gadget hound, with delusions of being an amateur MacGyver. I need a bag that not only will handle my Dell Inspiron laptop, but a whole raft of other devices: iPod, handheld GPS, Leatherman, flashlights, lockpick kit, Moleskines, lots of pens, a small pair of binoculars, a slim digital camera, and room to grow. Obviously, durability is a major concern. Any recommendations?
