I'm curious to what
this sign says and I don't even know whether it's Arabic or Persian. It was posted among hipsterish events posters on a busy Montreal street. Anyone?

My dear Egyptian friend calls me "Yah Soosah" and "Yah Habibti." What does this mean? I'm pretty sure these are terms of endearment, but what do they mean? She said "yah soosah" is an old Egyptian word. Help me figure out the meaning of my new pet names. Thank you!!! : )

What language is this? The two things I remember sounded like "nazoor sun" and "sollaar sun" for how are you and fine thanks, or similar. The guy who taught me speaks several languages including Farsi, Arabic, Azerji and Turkish, but googling hasn't worked for me. What was he teaching me? I'd like to learn some phrases in that language to surprise him with next time I see him.

In Arabic, what are the words for mirroring, mirrored, mirror (the verb "to mirror" rather than the noun, if they differ), and if possible mirrorer ("one who mirrors")? I'm most looking for the transliteration but I'd also love to see the Arabic script.

What are some good online and offline resources for learning Arabic as a beginner? At this point I'm really just trying to focus on learning the characters and script and it would be great to find some online exercises or a good workbook to start with (I'm trying to learn Levantine Arabic).

Yet another Arabic question. A lot of people have mentioned that I should make a point to watch Arabic tv to immerse myself more in the language. I don't have cable, though. Are there are any good spoken-Arabic (subtitled) movies you know of that I might be able to get on Netflix? (Bonus points if any are in modern Egyptian.) Otherwise, does anyone know of anyone who rents Arabic dubbed/subtitled dvds in the Bay area?
