The first appears to represent a human figure and would function as a cup when inverted. It has a very distictive groove down the centre of the face. The second is some sort of animal with long ears and would appear to be a lamp or lamp filler with second small hole at 'tail' end.
I recently bought this pendant light from the CB2 store here, which is having a closing down sale. Despite it being sold locally (Singapore), upon some inspection I've found that the light is likely to be the exact same model as the one sold in the US (i.e. only rated for US 110V, and not UK/Singapore 240V). The guy at the store said that I could connect it directly to the mains here, but I'm not too certain. Should I try to get it rewired? [more inside]
I'm loving creating art with my iPad Pro, but I need better lighting. Do you know your way around the light-o-sphere? What floor lamp should I purchase? [more inside]
I have three pendant lights in my kitchen, in a row over the counter. I've replaced the bulbs in two of them, maybe... never? Once? But the middle one burns out after a few weeks. WHY WHY WHY? [more inside]

I've found an awesome mid-century lamp in great condition EXCEPT for the fact that it's missing a globe. I've found a seller on Etsy who has a different lamp with the exact same globes. They've got these 2 inch screw fitter bases. I've looked - oh how I've looked for ones, at dozens of sites and struck out everywhere. Screw threads on lamp globes seem to be as rare as hen's teeth. In lieu of buying two lamps to have one functional one - who can point me to a place where I can buy a replacement or have one made?
I live in a rental with a strange dining room lighting situation. No lamp is provided, but there is an electric socket high up on the wall controlled by a switch. Ideally, I would plug in an overhead lamp and swing it through a ceiling hook, but I'm not allowed to drill into the ceiling. The alternative is to get a lightweight sconce that I don't need to mount, but simply attach to the socket. I might be searching for the wrong terms, because I can't find anything like this. Help?
I'm looking for a simple solution for lighting up a few pieces of artwork in my home office. In the long run I plan to install ceiling-mounted lighting for this, but until that's done, I'd like to find a reasonable solution. What I'm thinking of is a floor standing lamp with multiple adjustable spotlight heads. Something like this but with 2 or 3 heads instead of 1. Unfortunately I have been unable to find anything along those lines. [more inside]
I'm looking for a small minimalist lamp to use with a Philips Hue LED bulb (standard size light bulb). Maybe a skinny lamp like this, but a bit more narrow, not too tall, with a black shade? Or something else? The more minimalist, the better, but hopefully not cheap looking (though inexpensive is a plus!) [more inside]
My (Greek Orthodox) aunt gave my mom this bracelet to give to me. It is one of those anti-"Evil Eye" bracelets. Attached to each end of the bracelet is this coin-like thing. I am having a hard time deciphering what is pictured on the coin and what it symbolizes. Any knowledgeable folks know more than Google about this? [more inside]
I'm toying with the idea of DIYing a version of this ceiling lamp. Can anyone tell me the technical name for the pivoting/rotating/swiveling T joints, as Googling combinations of that phrase is not giving me similar connectors? [more inside]
Someone left a nice heavy lamp in my building's laundry room. Probably because no one (including the local lightbulb store) can figure out what sort of bulbs these fixtures take. I'm lamp-poor at the moment and this would work great in my office. Please help me identify! There are no markings on the base of the lamp. Three images are here: http://imgur.com/a/fw3AX Thank you for saving this from the landfill! [more inside]
DIY Light Fixture: I want to connect a neckless globe like this to a swag cord like this. [more inside]
we have a three way floor lamp (you know, the one that goes low, medium, high as far as light intensity, and requires the special bulb) in our bedroom. recently, the switch seems to have gone wonky, and only offers low, and, if we twist the knob only a certain amount, high. while we've learned the trick to make it work, and it's not like it's hard, i'm starting to get pretty annoyed with the fact that this isn't working anymore. it was not a crazy expensive lamp, but it also was not cheap, and i like that lamp, and i don't want a different one. i assume the problem is in the socket itself. can someone who hasn't tinkered with electronics since she was a teenager (and that was mostly to take stuff apart to see how it worked) but worked as a mac tech as an adult change out the socket pretty easily, or is this something i need to leave to the professionals?
I have a very tall cabinet in the corner of my living room. I'd love to put lighting on the top of the cabinet, and I like the idea of having a few lanterns like this or this up there. But, it's too tall to be messing with candles in there, and I'd want to use this regularly- it would be a lot better if I could have something that plugged in. I have exhausted all my Google skills on this one, but it seems improbably that it really doesn't exist! Can anyone tell me, have you ever seen or heard of one of these, or alternate search terms I could try? Or, do you have any similar ideas for lighting up the dark corner that wouldn't look weird perched on top of a cabinet?
I need to change the light bulb in this older overhead light fixture (and others in the building like it). Problem is, I can't figure out how to get the glass down. [more inside]
My babe of a wife is hoping Santa brings her a desk sewing lamp with "natural light" or full spectrum lighting. Not a floor lamp and not something that clamps onto the table--but a lamp that sits on a table. Maybe something with a gooseneck or at least adjustable. She does a lot of machine sewing (especially on quilts). She has nothing in mind and asked me to do the research and find something. Santa is willing to spend maybe $50- $60 tops. Less expensive is good too. Any recommendations would be appreciated. (P.S. I bet you read the title as "Lady sewers" as in toilets. Sorry. English is a weird language)
Some enthusiastic home dance party moves caused me to shatter one of the glass lampshades on this light fixture. I'd like to replace the shade, but I have no idea what lamp's brand or model is. Do you? [more inside]

This is a light with a picture of some sort of presumably Italian religious icon. When turned on, a colorful disc rotates behind it, creating a psychedelic effect through the clear radiating slits in the picture. I want to buy something like it to modify to display my own image, but what' it called? What do I search for to find more? Photos inside. [more inside]
I'm looking for a nice, inexpensive task lamp to put on my desk at work. It should have adjustable brightness (low/high is fine) so that I can have either a little or a lot of light, as required. Free-standing, not clamp-on. $30 or less would be ideal. Help? [more inside]
Anyone know where I might be able to purchase lamps similar to the bedside lamps featured [see 4th picture down] in this reader redesign feature on Young House Love a few years back? At the time, the owner said she found the lamps at HomeGoods. Of course, since we're now a few years past that, there's nothing like that at my local HomeGoods. Has anyone seen lamps like these online recently? I'd be willing to pay up to $200 for something similar in size and style. Thanks!
