What side dishes (apart from coconut rice) would go well with a rich, spicy, coconut-milk-based lamb curry? I am planning a meal centered around lamb curry and would like to make one or two (preferably vegetable-based) side dishes as well.

Ideas for a special lamb dish

Delicious and not-too-difficult recipes with lamb, please? My husband loves lamb. I would like to make him a lamb dish for his birthday. I'm a pretty accomplished cook but don't do a lot of red meat and have never made anything with lamb. I'm looking for a great special recipe that is somewhat forgiving in terms of needing to be timed perfectly or cooked to an exactitude that I, as an only occasional meat chef, can attain. Also, no grilling. I have a great butcher nearby and access to all sorts of fancy ingredients.

Lamb, beets, and ?

Help me decide on a menu for my boyfriend's birthday dinner. Two requirements: lamb and beets. I'm making a birthday dinner for my boyfriend next week (just the two of us). I know I want the main course to be lamb and beets incorporated somehow... Help me with the rest!

I have some tried-and-true ways to prepare lamb, but I'd like to mix things up a bit.

In regards to the lamb - I'd like to stay away from lamb chops (not his favorite cut). I'll probably be cooking it on the stove/oven, but I do have a grill available.

Thanks!

Why is my dog scared of cooked lamb?

My golden retriever-lab mix freaks out when we cook lamb -- he whines and puts his tail between his legs. He'll eat the cooked lamb fine, but he finds the smell of it cooking distressing.

I've read elsewhere about this phenomenon, but does anyone have this experience with their dog or have an idea what makes lamb so scary? Does he think we're cooking his pals?

He has his skittish moments (scared of thunder, natch), but this is the only time I've seen him behave this way. And he's a rescue dog, so it's possible he had some early traumatic experience involving lamb. But since I've read about other dogs behaving this way, I doubt it.

Lamb breast recipes?

Anybody have any good recipes for lamb breast? Lamb breast is a lot cheaper than the other lamb cuts at the supermarket, so I'd like to try it, but many of the recipes I've found involve two or three different cooking methods, and/or complicated stuffings and such. I might try these sorts of recipes later, so post 'em if you've got 'em, but I'm most interested in something simpler, as I'd rather not jump into the deep end of the pool first thing. Does anyone know a simple & delicious method for cooking lamb breast? I especially like Indian and Mediterranean flavors, but anything is welcome. Bonus points for starch-free or low-starch recipes. Thanks!

Is this a Food and Drink,, Media and Arts, or Pets and Animals Question?

I got a lamb skull from the supermarket (complete with meat) and I'm looking for the best way to remove all the non-bone parts and then preserve the bone for an art project. I was recently given a lamb's head as a gift and am playnnng on using the skull for an art project. First I have to get all the meat/tissue off of it (which I assume can be done via boiling, but someone please correct me if that's not the best way to get it ready if I need to preserve the skull).

Once I have the bone left, I want to break it up, and then use the fragments for an art project. Once I smash it, what is the best way to preserve the bone? Some type of spray or treatment? I would prefer to have it look as natural as possible, however I end up treating it, but having it not smell or decompose in any way is the highest priority.
