I'm driving from NYC to LA this weekend. Going to Ironman it with a friend of mine to Flagstaff, sleep, hang around the grand canyon for a bit, and then drive to LA. Anybody have any words of wisdom? [more inside]

So I have a friend, okay my boyfriend, who I convinced to move to NYC from LA. Problem is, he left a job in media post-production technology for, well, me and nothing. I have a webserver colocated in Los Angeles, where I live. I am moving to New York in a few months and I'm wondering if I should take the server with me. I have a ridiculously great deal at my current facility. How big of a deal is it to have a server in colocation in a far away location? (The server has RAID 1 and hot-swap drives, if that helps.)
