How to get photos from Easyshare to memory card using a Mac

Mac/Kodak EasyShare question From another message board to which I post:

If you have a Mac and Kodak Easyshare software, please help me! Sorry, but I'm computer illiterate.

Here's what I'm trying to do: I had 2 memory cards full of pictures so I plugged in my camera to the computer and uploaded them onto the Kodak Easyshare thing (that's just the automatic thing that pops up since the camera is a Kodak. I could put them in my iPhotos, too).

Now my friends want to see the vacation photos today, so I'm trying to figure out how to copy them BACK onto the memory card(s) so I can show them from my camera. (There are WAY too many pictures to print them out.) There's gotta be a simple way to do this but I can't figure it out cuz I never do this stuff. I'm not much of a picture person and almost never use my camera or the Easyshare thing.

I've got the blank memory card in the camera, I've got the camera plugged into the computer. When I open Kodak Easyshare, the name of my camera comes up (along with all the photos I've got uploaded from the last however many years). So I've tried dragging and dropping photos there, and copying, and all that crap. But the memory card is still not listing photos on it. I've tried going to the help menu. No dice. I've also looked for my instruction booklet that came with the camera, but of COURSE I can't find it (though since I keep every bit of paperwork, I can certainly find the fucking pamphlet that came with the CEILING FAN in my bedroom. So necessary.)

What can you tell me about my Kodak Brownie?

Total novice ahead! What do I do with this Kodak Brownie 8mm? I've searched online and I've found out that I'm holding a Brownie 8mm II (Turret Model). I understand very little about old cameras and film type and all the pages and boards I've found jump straight to talking in acronyms and numbers, which all make my head spin a little.

So, what film do I use? Where do I get it developed? What do all these switches and buttons and wheels do?

Any and all help or links to pages that talk to me like I'm an idiot are welcome.

This slide film is almost as old as me, and slight more stale, do I bother?

Kodachrome 25, expired 1988, un-used. Developing is prepaid, bother using it and sending it away? If so, what special attention should I give it? I'm a fairly 'experimental' photographer... most of my film stock in the freezer currently is expired about 6 - 7 years ago and I enjoy getting pretty creative with it, messing with emulsions, using old cameras, holgas and the like.

Was clearing out a draw and found a roll of Kodachrome 25, expired 12/1988.

Normally I'd bin it, or make it into a mantle piece type thing, but on the off chance I could get something pretentious out of it, and because the processing has been pre-paid I might as well take it for a spin right?

(Spoke to Kodak and they said they'd handle it for me and honour the mailer, though I presume that means send it to Dwaynes)

It wasn't frozen/fridged, it was in a draw in the back of the house, I think the humidity and temperature are fairly constant in there... but regardless, not the best environment.

If I do bother with it, should I push it? and by how many stops? If anyone else has bothered with 20 year old unfrozen slide film and got workable results, I'd be keen to know!

(the alternative method of developing I've read, is to process it as b/w in a longer process, but the chemical would probably cost as much as the postage)

dSLR or not dSLR, That is the Question.

Should I go dSLR on my next camera? I gave my camera to my partner, mostly so I'd have an excuse to buy a new camera. I am coming out of a Canon SD500 Point & Shoot, and am looking at getting something a little more 'feature rich' than what I had.

I've been looking at the Nikon D40 kits, but then I've also looked at the Kodak Z712 IS & the Canon S5 IS that was just released. One dSLR, and two which are somewhere in between P&S and SLR.

I've been worried about an dSLR because I am worried I will miss the ability to take pictures from the LCD screen, and be forced to use the viewfinder. The other thing is that I wonder if I need it for the cost. I'd love to get into taking more pictures, which is why I am looking for something a little more versatile, but the Kodak is $300 and the D40 is around $600 (well, $525 at B&H).

I've been hearing some good things, and some bad things, about the D40. Some friends tell me to just buy the cheaper mid-range prosumer, others are adamant I go dSLR. Looking for some 'non-biased' opinions on whether going dSLR merits the cost, and whether it's a necessary push for someone who generally takes 10-15 pictures per day.

How do I transfer pics from my Kodak digital camera without using the EasyShare software?

How can I transfer pictures from my Kodak digital camera to my Windows XP machine without using the Kodak EasyShare software? The camera has a sort of dock that it plugs into, which then plugs into the USB port of my computer. When I try to use the typical windows dialog, it tells me that it can't access the camera for whatever reason and doesn't let me in. I really hate having to install this bloatware on my computer just to transfer pics. I know Kodak just forces the software to try and get people to buy prints from them, but I'm really not thrilled by this behavior. Any help?

Dying CX7300 bogarting the digipix.. ideas?

I've got a Kodak CX7300 that keeps dying on me, which has a bunch of pics I need to pilfer at some point, preferably before it dies off completely. The batteries are fully charged and usuable (2x AA) in other devices, but when I turn the camera on, it stays on for a little while and then will give me low battery alerts and shut off. If I turn it off and try again, it will stay on again, but then die, this time much quicker. Subsequent attempts result in quicker deaths, unless I leave it alone for a day, and then it does the same thing with a longer life until finally dying, shorter and shorter lifespans again, etc. The longest it stays on is about 2 minutes give or take. If I take the batteries out and test them, they're still properly charged up, so it's not just draining them really fast. Tried different batteries, alkaline and rechargeable, standard and NiMH, etc.

To my knowledge there is not an AC adapter option, and the Kodak site is no help. I've got a bunch of junk on it I need to get off, but it never stays on long enough for me to yank stuff off in time =PP

Bypassing Kodak Easyshare Software

How can I bypass using Kodak Easyshare software to upload photos from my Kodak camera? I just bought a Kodak digital camera. I want to upload my photos WITHOUT having to use the Easyshare software. I preferably would like to use the Windows picture uploader, but I will use anything that is simple and fast. The problem is, my camera doesn't show up in My Computer like my other cameras do when I plug it in. Any suggestions?

People take pictures of each other, only I can't.

Got a Kodak Brownie, looks good. Cleaned out the gunk on the lens (looked like battery corrosion wtf?), tried to slap some 120mm film in there. For some reason, it's too damned tight, and I'm afraid of ripping the film when I advance it. Anyone had this problem? For shits and giggles, I've jury-rigged a roll of 35mm in there, but the case won't close (obvs). I've taped it up, but it's a bit wobbly. Anyone have any experience with this? I know that the film will be shot all the way past the holes, but anything else I should look out for?
