My USB2 hard drive will only stay mounted if I keep accessing it. If I don't, within 5 hours or fewer, I can't access files on the drive or even do a directory listing. I can then unmount the HD, power cycle it, and it will mount again as if nothing had happened. If I keep accessing the disk, say by continuously playing an MP3 mix on it, the disk acts completely normal: uptime now (with MP3s playing) is something like 20 hours without the shadow of a problem. So I saw the second episode by Kevin Rose on www.systm.org but they only seem to mention setting up your linux box with your "cable provider" without any mention of Dish or Direct TV....does anyone know whether Myth TV or specifically KnoppMyth will work with dish TV type providers?

Um, oops.
So I changed my disk partition a bit, changing my big data drive to a 'logical' partition of the same file-type (without changing the start or endpoint of the partition), and now Windows isn't recognizing it... Is there a good way to undo this horrible thing? The data should definitely still be there - no actual formatting occurred, just a changing of the partition table. Is there a way to undo this?

I picked up the latest version of knoppix, and since this being my first time using Linux, I love it. Something sparked in my mind, and I wanted to ask anybody if corporate hackers use knoppix to do work, then reboot to wipe any data? Is knoppix known to be evidence friendly? I am not asking if it is or not, I am asking if it is known to be.

Ok, I've blown up another hard drive...even knoppix can't help me get the data because the first few sectors are hosed and knoppix can't determine what the file structure is/was. Do anyone of you godlike system gurus have any suggestions that can help me pull data off this poor, corrupted drive?
