Suggestions on making cats sound adoptable

I currently have two foster kittens that I'm returning to the Humane Society soon. They will then advertise these kittens for adoption. In order to help them find their "forever family", the Society has asked us to write descriptions of the kittens. They haven't provided any guidelines, just to "write about their personality etc". What to Do With Feral Kittens & Mom (Brainstorm)

The feral cat we've been feeding somehow managed to keep three kittens alive during some very cold nights this spring. Now they're 6-7 weeks old, too young to trap and neuter. We love having them around but our near neighbor, an elderly man who is also our landlord's father, is afraid of them. Really afraid. He won't go into his garden now, which he loves, in fear of an "attack." We need to find a way to get them to a place where they can live out their lives, together if they want to be (we know the males leave the colony, don't know if any are). Now they're afraid of cages. Should I interfere when my cats are fighting?

I have two eight month old kittens. Mostly they get along great - they snuggle and sleep together, and they play-fight sometimes, though not as frequently as they used to. Sometimes this lil guy, Res, harasses this lil girl, Essie, and I don't know if, or when, I should step in. [more inside]

Foolproof way to feed baby kittens?

I've got three new baby kittens with no mother, and I need to feed them. I don't have access to any good pet stores or veterinary clinics, but I do have lactose-free baby formula and a plastic syringe with the needle removed, which I've been using to feed them so far. But is there a foolproof method of holding them or something to get them to drink from it? I can usually get them to drink, but only about half of the amount recommended. More details inside. Am I overreacting to my friends' values about future pets?

My younger friends are roommates and want to jointly adopt a kitten. When I asked some follow-up questions about who would be the real owner of the cat (since they'll likely not live together for the animal's entire lifespan) it seems that they assume they'll just give the cat up if neither wants to take it to the new home. I am, shall we say, not a fan of this plan. They both think I'm overreacting. They are also not very keen on simply fostering instead of adopting. What to do? [more inside]

Specific resource recommendations for kitten placement in the South Bay Area?

My SO's parents have been hosting a pair of foster kittens since said kittens were born to a feral momcat in their yard on May 26 of this year. They're now old enough to be adopted...but I'm having a terribly hard time figuring out how to help find them homes. I'm in the Bay Area, California (near San Jose) and while there seem to be a number of cat rescue groups, I have no idea how to choose one or go about contacting them. Buy one neutering, get one free?

CatFilter: My family recently inherited a bushelful of cats, including quite a few kittens who are getting to the age wherein they need to be fixed lest they start producing more (inbred, in this case) kittens with each other! There are a lot of cats, however, and minimal funding with which to fix them. Does anyone have any recommendations for the cheapest spayings/neuterings in the Northern Virginia area? Thanks!

How can we help facilitate our brand new kitten and our 2 year old cat to get along (or at least tolerate each other)?

Although we've been following the standard advice of slow introductions, our new 14 week kitten and 2 year old cat seem to have fallen into a pattern that we're concerned will negatively impact whether or not they ever get along at all! Additionally, we have time constraints and the longer we keep them separated, the more miserable the kitten seems to be. [more inside]

You can lead a cat to water...

I have two energetic one-year-old cats who love to knock over their water dish. I've tried several different types (at first they had a standard ceramic dish, into which they'd drop their stuffed toys until the toys absorbed all of the water (and got extremely gross), so I switched to a water-cooler-style dish, with a jug on top that fills to a dish in the bottom. That worked for a few weeks, but now the just play with it until it tips over, leaving my rug wet and them thirsty. What can I do to keep them from doing this? Is there a better (but still inexpensive) cat-watering system?
