I have one of the last Flip videos
made. I want to send it up as high as I can on a kite, and while I'd prefer it not plummet to Earth and smash this isn't really that great of a concern (especially if I could still get the footage off this). [more inside]

Woke up to this bird
squawking in my backyard in north central Texas. Obviously the video quality is not great, but can anybody help me identify it based on its call? Mississippi Kite? Hawk? And do they eat kitties?
For perspective, its on top of a 30ft bald cypress tree. It appears to be at least 18-24 inches from head to tail.

I came into a posession of a damaged kiteboard kite (photos
), and want to repair it. There are two sail-length tears and a missing 50x50 panel at the top edge. I think I can make a reasonable repair with spinnaker tape, silk thread and a sailor maker's needle. My next problem is to work out how to rig it to fly it. Any suggestions? I have a budget of less than $50.00 (AUD/USD)/ €40. I figure that it could be turned into a useful practice kite.

I'm looking to buy or make an octopus kite, in the stunt/fighting style, like my wife had as a kid in the late 1980s to early 1990s, but haven't had any luck finding such a kite online. [more inside]

What is the easiest-to-fly kite that I can buy? I want to walk into a field with my five-year-old and fly with as little skill, experience and effort as possible. I'm seriously considering just "flying" a helium balloon, but that's cheating. What's one step removed from that?

Where can I go fly a kite in or near Oakville, Ontario? I'd like to take my kids out to fly a kite. I've tried it at several fields and parks near my home, but they tend to be surrounded by too many tall trees to keep a consistent wind, and it's been frustrating for all of us. Is there a "go to" place in the area for kite enthusiasts?

Does anyone have recommendations about where to learn to kite board? I’m in DC and it sounds like going to Kitty Hawk, NC is a good option. Are some companies better than others? [more inside]

I've been playing with kites lately and I want to try my hand at kite photography soon, but I'd rather not use disposable film cameras -- I'd like to rig up a digital camera. I'm looking for a small, light camera that can shoot automatically. [more inside]
