Appliance color

I am remodeling my kitchen. All walls are traditional square 50s white tile with black borders from floor to ceiling. The counters will be white linoleum, the cupboards white, and the floor will be wood (brown). The stove is a white 1940's gas range. Should I buy white fridge and dishwasher, or stainless steel? I'm leaning toward white to maintain continuity with the cupboards but think stainless steel will keep the look more modern, but the entire house (a 1915 bungalow) has a strong retro vibe. Pastel appliances are out of my price range. What do you think?

Should I buy this refrigerator?

Our heirloom (hah!) refrigerator is dying. I'm thinking of purchasing an Electrolux ICON Professional 16.5 cu. ft. refrigerator, with plans to buy the matching freezer later (I have an upright freezer already that will suffice for the time being). Does anyone have any experience with this product? Something similar you think might be better or might want to warn me away from? My biggest concerns are for quality of construction and reliability, but I'd love to hear any/all thoughts you might have about this appliance. Thanks!

My just-out-of-warranty electric cooktop died recently, and my handyman came up with the idea that it was feasible to replace it with a gas cooktop. I was thinking about buying a commercial range for my kitchen - a Vulcan costs half as much as a Wolf and has the same output, same safety rating, same dependability and two folks I know who use them love them. However, many of the sellers will only sell to a commercial entity - not just for tax purposes, although I could understand that, but because they tell me my insurance company won't allow it, that I'll need fireproof floors, and industrial venting etc. [more inside]
