Which illuminated E-reader for me?

Time for a new e-reader, and of course nothing will give me everything I want, but maybe ebook-loving Mefites can help me choose. I'm currently looking at the Kindle Paperwhite, the Kobo Glo, and the Kobo Aura HD. Because I'm reading for work online all day (on my laptop), my #1 priority is ease on the eyes when reading for pleasure on an e-reader. I have a first gen Kindle, but I'm currently reading on iPad with retina display, which doesn't seem to strain my eyes, but battery issues and weight are a problem. All other details after the jump... [more inside]

Multi-USB charger that works with Kindle or iPad

I have a tangle of USB chargers at my nightstand for the devices there: a Kindle, an iPad, an iPhone and a Nintendo DS. All of them charge over USB. I want some thing that is nicer looking that uses just one power plug and comes out into 4 or more USB jacks. These exist, and I've tried a few, and none of them have worked with the Kindle or with the iPad (but are fine with the DS and iPhone.) Is there a multi-USB power charger that for sure works with Kindles and iPads?

It's on the web, but I want it in my pocket. Sort of as a book.

What's the best / easiest way to process / format material I've downloaded or copied from the web to read on Apple's Books app? On a Kindle? If I format for the Kindle, would the material be synced on both devices if I use the Kindle iPhone app as my reader? I've been using Calibre to rip ePubs, but there has to be an easier way than what I'm doing, which takes forever. [more inside]
