Dinner conversation, what's that? Family Friendly TV suggestions.

Every night my 9 year old daughter asks to watch a movie while we eat dinner. We are big movie people, rarely ever watch commercial TV and don't have the Aussie version of cable, but we like to buy DVD TV series' or stream them. Some nights dinner is the perfect 'eat on the couch' meal, but a movie is too long if it's during the week. I am looking for some suggestions of shows we could all enjoy that are 30 minutes, or an hour. [more inside]

TV viewing recs - teenage kid visiting his middle-aged relatives

Our 17 year old cousin is coming to visit. He comes from a sheltered environment, not allowed to watch TV at home, and they don't have wifi. We'd like to enjoy some really good TV together. I'm looking for good quality shows that are sophisticated and fun, with minimal romantic/sexual content. On the kid's last visit, he really enjoyed the Firefly and Justified series. [more inside]

I just watched two seasons of Toddlers and Tiaras. I need help.

I'm sick. I'm watching a lot of Netflix. Specifically, I've been watching a lot of Toddlers and Tiaras. At first I didn't know what had come over me, but I think...I just like watching kids get interviewed about their lives? Even if their lives are ridiculous? I'm in my early thirties and I'm also super into those AT&T commercials so maybe it's a biological clock thing, but I'm too exhausted to second-guess myself about it. I know John & Kate + 8 exists, but that's just as gross and exploitative as T&T, as far as I can tell. I loved the 7 Up documentaries and also enjoyed Babies. What other recommendations for reality TV/documentary film about kids, pitched to adults, do you have for me? Bonus points if it's online. Thanks!

And everyone lived happily ever after...

I-can't-believe-I'm-using-my-question-for-this-Filter: I saw a cartoon movie as a kid and can't remember what it was. I thought it was Care Bears but the two plot summaries for their movies aren't ringing a bell. Something was going around turning kids and/or bears into dark blobs of unhappiness. [more inside]
