My Mac's 10-year-old bluetooth
keyboard is acting up, and I'm pretty sure that it's death is imminent. I'd like to find a replacement, but Apple long ago stopped making full-sized wireless keyboards -- what are some good alternatives that exist in 2013?

A recent (for me) music find,
The Missing Links. I liked
the one tune and so got their album and now I'm hunting for more like it. They sound kind of like The Stooges with a great keyboard player. What else sounds like the Stooges with a great keyboard player?

I am considering buying an electronic keyboard. I have some basic skills I'd like to improve, would one of the kind that light the keys up as you play along be helpful? Or is it just a gimmick?

Keyboardists: What is a good setup to go with if I want to buy a cheap vanilla polyphonic keyboard and some kind of software package that emulates one or more legendary synthesizers (Moogs, Vox Connie, Jupiters, DX-7, etc) with this keyboard on my Windows PC? Will I have to get a MIDI card or can I go with USB? Also are weighted keys worth it and what price point would these come in at? This is just for messing around at home and should be cheap... even eBay goods are fine. Thanks!

Mac users: Can somebody please tell me how to set up a keyboard shortcut or script that allows me to toggle between U.S. keyboard and International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) keyboard layouts? I switch these on and off a LOT when I'm using my iMac and Macbook, but am tired of constantly going up to the little flag dropdown menu in the Finder (which I have to do repeatedly as I switch from program to program, since the drop-down window change doesn't seem to apply globally, but rather only within the current program you have up top). I know there's an easier way, I just haven't gotten around to figuring it out or setting it up. Thanks!

Seeking advice in brands, models, retailers, price, durability, and indeed, overall wisdom of this route over standard piano. All views even slightly extraneous welcome. Thanks in advance.

Something has gone horribly wrong with the spacebar on my laptop. You have to hit it in the middle to get it to work. If you tap it towards one side, nothing happens.
I admit, I removed it to clean it. Maybe this damaged it. But all the other keys on my laptop can be safely removed and replaced without damage. It's a Toshiba Portege. I'm weirded out.

I've been really enjoying
GarageBand lately, especially since I finally got a
keyboard to use as a MIDI controller. Unfortunately, it also reminds me that I have no skill or training on a keyboard (or any other musical instrument). Can anyone suggest a good book to learn keyboards from, especially one that will let me "fake it" easily?
Thanks.

this one which Apple is reselling, and
this one which is more keys and more functions.
