I was playing around with a keyboard at a Guitar Center that had an auto-harmonize feature. Below a certain note pressing a key would play a chord instead of a single tone. What was interesting was that playing chromatically (white and black keys) it played chords that retained a firm sense of key (C major) - if you jumped around randomly or did chromatic runs it didn't sound like there were a bunch of modulations taking place. What formula do you think it used to do this?

The left CTRL key popped off of my ThinkPad T43, the casualty of a RAM upgrade. The blue nipple seems to have come unglued from both the keyboard and the key. Is it safe to glue onto the keyboard? Googling reveals warnings of not using superglue and using superglue. Would a silicon adhesive be safer? Better?

Seattle resident (US Citizen) wants to buy a $900 keyboard amp of Canadian manufacture from Vancouver B.C. music store. How much it would REALLY cost after taxes and customs duties? Store couldn't tell me; getting busy signal from Border Information Service 800 number. GST - about 5%? Additional provincial tax for BC, and if so, how much? Additional customs duties? Would drive up from Seattle and buy in person. Is this insane, or should I just special-order via
Seattle music store and save money (but not time?)

I'm looking for a keyboard amplifier for use in a rock band. Is the roland kc-150 (65W) going to be loud enough or should I spring for the KC-350 (120W)? Or should I look for a bass amp?

I am trying to find/make a table that is about 2 feet high that I can put my keyboard and mouse on. The depth is irrelevant, but the length shouldn't be longer than say 4 feet. Also, would like it not to have any cross-beams or anything so I can stretch my legs out under it. [more inside]

I want to (re)build a small, mostly digital studio in my office. I write and play mostly indy pop, typically using no more than 16 tracks with a mix of electronic and acoustic instruments. Although I have a ton of gear, most of that will remain in boxes. I'm going for a smallish singer/songwriter production suite. [more inside]

I currently have an iMac 24" (early 2008). If you are acustom to the iMac you'll know that the brightness setting is extremely high.
Unfortunately everytime I boot the computer up the brightness settings reset and I have to go through the hassle of lowering the brightness.
Why is the keyboard/mac doing this? and can it be fixed?

Is there a way to output midi data from MAC or PC so that I can have one in a series of LED lights light up when the corresponding note is played?
I would like to learn playing keyboard by example, have seen the casio lighted keyboards, but I heard these keyboards cannot play midi's that I download online.

I've lost two keys, one of which is the period button. So far, for four months, I've simply been copying that are lying around, and pasting them into web browsers, word documents etc etc. The thought just struck me; is there a global shortcut for entering a period? Like, say, ctrl+opt+command+p ? And if not, can someone tell me how to do it in Firefox, excel, and word? Thanks!

How do I replace the plastic nub that was affixed to the contact underneath the "I" key on my MacBook Pro? For reasons not worth getting into, it's gone. I still have the key and the two-part plastic hinge, but without the plastic nub I can't really use the key. The nub was attached to the contact, so even if I find a replacement I'm not sure how to reaffix it-- would I need to use some kind of glue? For now I've left the key off and am pressing the contact directly, but it hurts my finger and I'd really like to get this fixed. Thanks!
