I'm looking for a keyboard that a) lets me play along to lit-up keys and b) allows me to either add my own music for it to decipher or tell it which keys I want to light up when I play a song. [more inside]

I use an ancient MS Natural Keyboard, but the main thing that's relevant here is the key mechanism.
The Goog will show you models old and new
I recently took mine apart, cleaned the plastic parts with water, got it nice and clean (years of accumulated cookie crumbs, etc.)
The problem is - now the keys are kind of stiff. For example, if I strike them at a slight angle, they don't depress as smoothly as before.
The standard advice online is to clean a keyboard to prevent
sticky keys, but I have the opposite problem.
Is there some kind of lube/oil/spray I can use?

I've had a new computer set up for me at work and the keyboard is being a pain. For some reason it is reversing the keys I need to strike to get @ and " as well as a few others. I've asked around and other people here have the same problem, but have just got used to reversing the keys. However I am too impatient and lazy and I want it to work right. Apologies for all the stupidity to follow but I know nothing of techy things. [more inside]

Could a musical person possibly tell me the notes of the keyboard part in Camera Obscura's "Happy New Year"
? I don't really need it in actual musical notation on a staff or anything--just the names of the notes is fine. Thank you in advance!

I inherited an old, first-generation iPad. I'd love to get a portable keyboard for it so I don't have to lug my ridiculously huge laptop everywhere. I've been doing some Googling, but it's hard to sift out keyboards that will work with the old, obsolete first-generation devices now that it's 2013. I want actual hard keys. Is an Apple wireless keyboard my only option?

I have just started using Google Japanese Input on Windows 7. It works fine, but I would like to be able to switch input modes (i.e. between direct input, hiragana, katakana etc) using a shortcut key. Currently I have to click on the language bar to switch, which is a pain. I looked in the properties and can't see an option for shortcuts. I tried googling but can't seem to find an answer either. I need a simple program (an SWF preferably) that will let me assign locally-stored sound clips to my PC's keyboard. Something like the Jingle Keyboard
freeware, or a flash soundboard, but will let me assign specific sounds to specific keys -- such as sound1.mp3 to C, sound2.mp3 to V, etc.. [more inside]

Microsoft Word 2010 doesn't seem to recognize some of my keyboard inputs. Maybe due to the language my keyboard is set. Can't figure how to customize or otherwise tell it that a [set keyboard shortcut] is already equated to a [set character]. [more inside]

I'm doing a song analysis on this awesome song, but I can't nail down one of the instruments.
It appears around 3:15
into the song, and also at the end.
I'm figuring its either a xylophone or a synth. Anyone care to shed some light (that will never go out)

I just bought a used Thinkpad T61 and the e,t, and space bar keys work intermittently. The keyboard is reasonably clean and nothing is obstructing the keycaps underneath. I have taken out the keyboard and reseated the keyboard connector. Is this just a bad keyboard or should i be worried about something else? (os is linux/ubuntu)

I've been trying Pro Keyboard mode in Rock Band 3 and I'm really enjoying it, however I have no idea whether I'm putting the right fingers on the right keys! The training modes explain it a little but there's no guidance in the actual songs. Is there an online resource or book that will teach me the basics of this?

I often write in several languages (French, Dutch, and English) and so I use multiple keyboard layouts (on Windows 7) and multiple editing languages (in Microsoft Office 2007). I find that when I have Word open and I change the keyboard setting in Windows (from US to US-International or vice-versa), Microsoft Word will change the editing language back to English (United States), Word's default language, no matter what other language (Dutch or French) I was working in at the time. Got a new computer and it only has USB hookups, no ps2 hookups for a keyboard or mouse. No problem, I already had a USB mouse and it came with a USB keyboard (whatever generic one Dell ships). But I really liked my old keyboard which had a ps2 connector. So, I got a couple of ps2/usb adaptors
figuring that would solve my problem. It didn't. The computer didn't recognize the keyboard when it was plugged in. Why? [more inside]
