My wired Apple Keyboard keeps shocking me whenever I depress a key for too long (aka any time I type) to the point that I have little sore spots on all my fingertips. The shocks are strong enough that I can hear them through my headphones as soon as the arc makes contact with my fingers. What is going on, and why isn't the issue resolved by grounding myself? I have an Android phone. I would like to be able to type on a normal keyboard with it. I would like this keyboard not to break instantly. I would like to not spend more than say $30-$50 but if that's not reasonable, fine. Your suggestions?
I'm looking for a light touch USB keyboard. The Smart Keyboard for my iPad feels perfect, but I need to plug in to a desktop computer, and for added difficulty it also needs to have a ten-key. [more inside]
Yesterday I rescued an abandoned Érard piano from the streets. Its innards had been removed, but it has all 85 of its original keys (it's an 85-key piano). I would like to be able to use it as a synthesizer, since I can't afford a new soundboard for it. The online DIY synthesizer world is so full of resources, however, that I am at a loss where to start. [more inside]

I was replacing a trackpad in my MacBook Pro (about 2012 model). After I booted back up the keyboard stopped responding. Is there anything obvious I could have unplugged or damaged to make this happen?
I'm in a small office that has all newish Mac desktop computers. The last week or so- five of us have all been experiencing connection issues with our wireless keyboards and mice. They disconnect and reconnect at random, but I can't figure out why this is happening. What the heck is going on? [more inside]

I have a great IBM keyboard that I assume is irreplaceable at this point. My cat likes the attention of plopping herself down on it. (I now move the keyboard to underneath my desk on a tray when she comes around, but she sheds a lot, and the hair still eventually gets into the keys.) [more inside]

My current phone, a Samsung Galaxy S5, is all sorts of smashed and dying. I would like a replacement that runs a recent build of Android, works on my carrier (Verizon), and has a physical keyboard. Halp? (Details inside.) [more inside]
I took apart my MacBook Air to replace the keyboard. When I pulled the old keyboard off a lot of the rivets broke off and stayed behind, stuck in the little holes. So how do I remove them? I've tried a Phillips screwdriver, tweezers even but it doesn't work. Right now my computer is in 100 pieces with deadlines looming. Any ideas would be appreciated from those brave souls who have tried this and succeeded! [more inside]
I'm looking for a new Windows laptop, but pretty much everything that I've tried out has a keyboard that just suuuuuucks for me. Please hope me find something I won't detest typing on? Because, um, typing strings of words in succession is sometimes relevant to my interests. [more inside]
We've got a mac running OS 10.9.5, with a wireless keyboard. Every time we hit the n key OR the command key, it acts as if we've hit command-n. There is not a shortcut set up, I've already checked the system preferences. This behavior happens in every application. What on earth is going on?
In my mid-2012 MacBook Pro, I recently removed my optical drive and replaced it with a second hard drive (SATA HDD, not SSD), following these instructions. Everything seems to be running fine, except now my trackpad and keyboard (both built-in, not USB-connected) will occasionally freeze for about 5 seconds, seemingly at random. [more inside]
How can I get access to the various odd keys on my old Wang model 724 keyboard that's hooked up to my PC? The OS only sees it as a "Standard PS/2 Keyboard." [more inside]

I just got a new TV -- a Sony Bravia kdl-48w600b -- and I am trying to figure out if I can connect a keyboard -- any kind of keyboard to it. The internet is not helping -- I cannot find a solid answer. Some say yes you can, some say no, it's impossible (which would be a huge pain for a smart TV). Has anyone successfully connected a keyboard (wired or not) to their TV of the same model? If yes, what type of keyboard do I need to buy?

What's a good video game controller for a toddler? Absolutely required: A reliable way of connecting it to a Windows 7 or 8 laptop. I don't mind using JoyToKey or 3rd-party drivers if necessary. Preferred: Wireless, so it can't be used to pull the laptop off the desk; Durable and/or cheap, in case it gets thrown or dropped; Simple, few inputs. [more inside]

Hello! I am an animator and would like to use a USB number pad for keyboard shortcuts for better ergonimcs while animating in Photoshop. Is there a way to remap the numbers on the USB number pad to keyboard shortcuts like Command+Z, etc? This nice post explains how to do it for PCs, but I haven't been able to find how to do it for MacBook Pros. Thank you!
I am super hard on keyboards. I have killed 2 fancy ergonomic ones and more cheap keyboards than I can count in the past 4 years so I have decided to splurge on a nice mechanical keyboard, that can hopefully stand up to my destructive ways, well that and I really like the clicky clacky sensation when I type that you don't seem to get on modern keyboards. I have read various forums & even an old question on the green and all I have done is confuse myself so looking for some suggestions. Thanks. [more inside]
Are there any newer phones that use the Android operating system (Jelly bean or later) that also are both available unlocked and that have a physical QUERTY keyboard? I recently purchased a Roland RD-700, which sounded ay-may-zing when I was playing it in-store. Playing it at home (without headphones), though, it sounds a bit dull; the highs don't sing, and the lows have no power. It sounded like a concert piano in-store, and it sounds like a sub-$500 keyboard at home. Please help me configure my keyboard settings/speaker location so I can get this keyboard sounding the way it should. The [more inside]

Up until a week or two ago, my phone's predictive text function predicted not just which word I was typing, but also which word I was likely to type next. It used an algorithm which not only paired common words, but which (and this is the important bit) also learned which words I used frequently. Now that's not happening any more. Predictive text is still working, but it doesn't seem to be learning my vocabulary any more. How can I make this work again? [more inside]
I have a Casio Tonebank CT-670 keyboard. I bought a usb-midi cable. I've tried connecting the cable to pc. I get the red light power on for the cable. But can't get any lights to turn on for midi signaling. Is my midi cable broken, or is something wrong on the midi keyboard or pc end. I tried all possible setting available in Fruity Loops and still no sound coming through on pc end. When I push a key on the keyboard should the midi cable light up that a key has been pressed like in this video at the 3 min mark? It doesn't does this mean the cable is broken?
What are my options for using a smart phone with a physical keyboard (whether built-in or as an attachment)? I am on Verizon and want to stay. I would prefer to stick with Android but would consider an iPhone. I used to love the Blackberry back in the day, but I don't think I can go back. I do not want a Windows phone. Thanks!
I'm participating in a group chat on whatsapp. People are slinging the text like there's no tomorrow. How do I do this on my smart phone? [more inside]
My son's piano keyboard broke, it was 10+ years old. His birthday is coming up, and I would like to get him a piano keyboard with midi/usb (for making music) for his birthday. It can't be too expensive - I'm thinking $80-200 range, but a little outside is fine as well - but I don't want to get him a piece of junk either. I could use some advice, since I don't know much about keyboards and would like to keep it a surprise without picking something silly. [more inside]
I feel like if I knew more about amplifiers the symptoms of my Roland KC-550 would narrow down my problem significantly. Only the tweeter works (and it works fine), and the two other speakers are totally un-driven across all channels. Does this indicate anything about the issue? I'm trying to figure out if it's worth having repaired and/or if I can repair it myself.
Hi, I have 1 keyboard, 1 mouse, and two desktop computers to use with a 3-monitor setup. I would like to know the best way to use a triple monitor setup where I can click a button and switch back and forth between desktop A and desktop B for the single keyboard/mouse and the monitors. Consolidating files onto one machine is not an option. Are there devices or hubs I could plug the keyboard/mouse/monitors and desktops into that can do this? Amazon links would be great.
I can't find any Bluetooth 4.0 keyboards from any of the usual places. This makes me suspicious. Alibaba has some, but I'd prefer to buy a single one from somewhere I have used before. What's going on?
I'm looking for a keyboard that a) lets me play along to lit-up keys and b) allows me to either add my own music for it to decipher or tell it which keys I want to light up when I play a song. [more inside]

I use an ancient MS Natural Keyboard, but the main thing that's relevant here is the key mechanism. The Goog will show you models old and new. I recently took mine apart, cleaned the plastic parts with water, got it nice and clean (years of accumulated cookie crumbs, etc.) The problem is - now the keys are kind of stiff. For example, if I strike them at a slight angle, they don't depress as smoothly as before. The standard advice online is to clean a keyboard to prevent sticky keys, but I have the opposite problem. Is there some kind of lube/oil/spray I can use?
I have an electric, piano-weighted keyboard that I want to learn how to play. I can't afford lessons right now. It has MIDI in and out connectors. Is there a hardware/software combo that will take that MIDI out connection, plug it into an Android or iOS tablet, and provide a more interactive teaching experience? [more inside]
