Someone close to me has lost the only key to her 2012 Honda. Assuming they will never be found and there are (just go with me here), what's the cheapest way to get new keys made? I suppose it doesn't have to be electronic if that will save $$$. [more inside]
I found this key outside my band's practice space last night. We were hoping to get some clues as to what this key is for so we could attempt to return it to the owner, but we're all totally unfamiliar with the symbol. Anyone got any ideas? If it matters, this was found in an alley in Baltimore, MD.

My laptop has developed a thing where the 2 key, which had been intermittent for a couple of weeks, now seems to be completely kaput. How to deal with this? If not to fix it, then maybe to cope with it until my next computer? [more inside]
We just got a used 2012 Subaru Impreza hatchback that only came with one key. We'd like another one, but we don't really want to pay a Subaru dealer $250 to make it. We're looking for a "valet key," not necessarily the remote entry key—no schmancy fob necessary. I did a little googling and it looks like you can't simply take your key to the local locksmith. The key blank contains a chip that requires programming to match your vehicle, so it's not a simple fix like I thought. Is there a way to do this that's cheaper than just having the dealer handle it?
I want to get another spare and don't want to pay dealer prices. Can you tell me where I can get a key made for my Toyota and save some money?
Howdy MeFites! The lock on my front door is apparently suffering from separation anxiety; it refuses to release the key. The key still functions properly in all other ways but when I attempt to remove it from the lock it stubbornly stays put. While I empathize with their situation, I cannot leave for work without locking my front door and taking the key with me. Any recommendations for fixing besides "call a locksmith"? [more inside]
Should I attempt to re-key every lock in our new house, or buy new deadbolts and knobs? We're talking about two entry way doors, two external security doors, and one driveway gate with a deadbolt on it. There are a mix of different brands in the existing hardware. [more inside]
I'm moving and will be living out of a suitcase for a while... and I think I packed the suitcase lock key in a moving box *after* locking the suitcase (moving boxes are now on the road and inaccessible). How can I open the suitcase today? [more inside]
After searching for a week for my car keys, I'm to the point of giving up and getting new ones. Any suggestions or pointers in doing that? Do I call the dealership, a locksmith, use an online key replacement system? What is the cheapest/easiest/quickest way to get new car keys. My car is a 2004 Ford Escape. I have the fob thingy, but it doesn't work, which is why I had taken it off my key ring. Anyone been through this and have some tips?
I'm looking for a UK-oriented fungus identification online group or guide or website or book or Android app. Recommendations based on personal experience are most welcome. Poking around online has led me to a few places, like Mycokey, but either the varieties aren't listed or I'm just rubbish at describing what I've found. [more inside]
A few weeks ago, my bike lock left me stranded after the stupid plastic key handle broke off, leaving the rest of the key trapped inside the lock (and leaving me trapped four miles from home, in the rain). Similarly, the weird plastic key handles add a lot of unnecessary heft to my keychain. Are there any decent bike locks that use "normal" keys? Bonus points if I can get multiple locks that use the same key.
Totally embarrassing, but I lost the sole remaining key to my family's 1989 VW Vanagon (on my way to make a copy, natch) ... I'll be calling locksmiths and my mechanic today, but if anyone has any experience and/or knowledge of fixes for such a SNAFU, I would appreciate tips. (No, I don't have a picture of it. Yes, very stupid. Trust me; I've heard it.)
So i've read the previous Asks like this and this but i'm in a bit of a bind moreso than those with regards to an obstinate landlord who wants to charge me a TON for a new key, snowflakes inside... [more inside]

I'm troubled by a mysterious bug on my MacBook Air. It manifests itself when I use Microsoft PowerPoint, but I believe it is a Mac-wide issue. It is extremely rare, impossible to reproduce on demand, and yet - when it strikes, it does so with a vengeance, and embarrasses me in front of a theater full of people. [more inside]

I regularly see people use the uppercase FOB when referring to a key fob, such as a car door lock remote, SecureID, etc. But, why? The only reason I can come up with is that, with the advent of key fobs for computer uses, they were presumed to be advanced enough that they must be some manner of acronym.
I spilled beer on my laptop. I got a missing or corrupt BIOS error on startup and a number of keys didn't do anything when pressed. I disassembled the laptop and cleaned the inside with alcohol wipes and replaced the keyboard. The BIOS error is gone and the keys register as input but in pairs. Is there a software solution to this problem? [more inside]

I spilled some beer on my MacBook durring an international Skype-powered drinking contest. The computer itself is totally fine, except everything to the right of my O key is sticky. I want to pull the keys off so I can clean the little mechanisms in there, but I'm not sure how to pop them off without creating more problems than I already have. Several Google searches have brought me conflicting advice on how to do this. The specific model is a Macbook4,1 Intel Core 2 Duo, the white polycarbonate one from a few years back. [more inside]

My wife broke the hole (I don't know how else to say it) off of her key for our 2005 Jeep Liberty. A replacement costs $200. The perfect answer would involve some kind of leather pouch that the key would fit in which would then attach to a key ring. I'm open to other ideas though. The better ideas will be much less than $200.

A couple of months ago I bought a used 2007 Ford Ranger. I love the truck but it only came with one key. When I went to the local Ford dealer to see about getting a spare key made, they quoted me a price around $140 because it has the Ford SecuriLock chip built into it. That's a lot of money for a spare key, so I had a spare key made at a hardware store that will let me into the truck in case I lock my key in the cab, but if I would happen to lose my key, I'll be screwed. Is there anyway I can get a spare key from somewhere and program it to work in my truck's ignition without spending $140?
