Wallapop, LetGo, OfferUp, Etsy, CraigslistPro - choosing HOW to sell is almost as daunting as the collection itself. Help! [more inside]
I'm looking for some 500 square mile area of the world with giant piles of machine parts. Junkyards would be good. But any piles of former machinery would still work. And it doesn't have to be cars. Planes. Boats. Anything scrap worthy but still semi-useful would work. SO where should I be looking?
I tend to accumulate surplus hardware (brackets, hinges, etc) in the workshop. Lately I've been thinking of timing things out: if some random part been idle for X months then dispose of it. I'm wondering if anyone has used a scheme like this and what the pros and cons might be. Logistically I was just going to date-stamp things on the day they get added to the random collection of parts, and make a periodic pass to weed out unused items.
I have a 2002 Ford Taurus station wagon with 170,000 miles. The other day the starter died, and it should cost anywhere from 200-300 dollars to fix it. If I scrap it, I'll get 100 bucks. Should I take it to a mechanic, have them repair it, then sell it? Or donate it? [more inside]
Lately (the past few months?), it seems that e-mails from my info@ e-mail address are going straight to the junk/spam folder of current or potential customers. We are a small business and our site/e-mail provider is GoDaddy. About the e-mails themselves....there are usually 1-3 links in the message, and a couple of phone numbers in the signature. No photos or fancy stuff. I use mac mail to send them. Any ideas as to why this keeps happening?
When I was in a pinch a couple of years ago I sold an annuity from a settlement. It worked out just fine, however, I guess I was put on some list that I had done this because after it was final I started receiving TONS and TONS of junk mail soliciting me to sell other annuities, etc. [more inside]

I'm going through my father's garage, and have come across two waist high piles of magazines from the 1970's, most likely waiting room material left over from when he owned a small business. They seem to mostly be "Woman's Day" and "Woman" magazines from 1970-1974. Should I separate the decent ones from the yellowing and crumbled ones, and try to sell them? [more inside]
I have a Gmail account, and I use Mail. I am signed up to a listserv. I get most of the emails sent to this listserv in my inbox, but some of them get spam-filtered and sent straight to junk. [more inside]
FoodFilter: My boyfriend likes junk food. The exception being sushi. Otherwise it's all meat, cheese, chips, pizza, and soda. We may be living together at some point in the future as this is getting serious, but this is an issue for me. I've worked hard to get on a healthy diet and I do not keep ANY junk in my house. Sometimes tortilla chips and salsa. I eat mostly paleo, but do have cheese. [more inside]
I have lost ALOT of weight, and am on track to keep it off. I have a wife who has admitted she really enjoys vintage pics of guys in pants that showcase "the bulge", and she believes I now qualify. I have the butt and legs on my new "skinny pants" appropriately snug for her taste, but the fronts are disappointingly vague. Is this something I have to hunt down vintage jeans for, or ask a tailor for? Or is my endomorph body type, no matter how lean, cursed for flattened-fly jeans?
I have a Mac (Mavericks) and iPhone (iOS 7), and I use the Mac mail client for both. My email is hosted on Google for domains. Some time in the past few months, my mail has started putting perfectly legitimate mail into my Junk folder. It's not marked as junk- I've turned off junk mail filtering altogether, so I don't even have that option anymore, and by my logic nothing should wind up in my Junk folder at all at this point. How can I get my mail to behave properly? [more inside]
Resolution time! I grew up eating junk food. Lots of it. My fruit/veggie intake is minimal to non-existent. Though my BMI is in the healthy range, I know I can't possibly be healthy with decades of this diet. Where do I even start to relearn how to eat? [more inside]
I have a aunt-in-law who has been forwarding me junk emails she has received from a random email address with my name as the title. I've tried to explain to her that this is likely a junk from her computer's infection, not mine. Can someone send me a link that explains how that works in a simple way for someone of her limited understanding?
What's the word for the useless filler reticulations on spaceships? I think it was coined by the model builders of Millennium Falcon or Star Destroyer. --(I'm certain this question has been asked and answered here before. No luck in the FU Google machine. )--Thanks!
It's time for Thing Cleaning at our house, which is just like Spring Cleaning, but I have to do it all year round because while I am not greedy, I like a lot of things. Thanks to MetaFilter, I have found, and am always inspired by, UnF*ck Your Habitat and A Slob Comes Clean. What I realized I need more of are blogs with "Before and After" pictures of de-slobifying, preferably as their main focus. [more inside]

My husband of 30 years has been increasingly getting to be a total slob. He lays papers, clothes, anything on every horizontal surface! Our house is not small, he has one of our kids' old bedrooms as his office, and it is packed. Yet still he comes home everyday and lays all his 'stuff' on the kitchen table, his clothes on the only chair in our bedroom...I am so frustrated! When he's gone I often go through his 'stuff', tossing what I don't think is needed...but if he finds out he flips! I have set aside time to go through things with him, but he always finds an excuse not to follow through. He is good about doing other household chores, putting dishes and laundry away... I have gotten rid of extra tables and other things he could clutter up, but it absolutely does not help. I need your help before I go bonky. Thanks!
