Finding a Video Game from My Past

Find This Video Game Filter: Arcade machine, may not exist on a console, reminiscent of Pitfall with better graphics, approximately 12-15 years ago, played it at a local drugstore. More Details inside. Please help a video game guy! I am trying to locate a video game and I will outline everything I can possibly remember about it.

-It was an arcade cabinet
-The setting reminds me of Pitfall (looking back now) but it had much better graphics I would say maybe SNES or Genesis type graphics (thought I have never seen it on a console). Definitely NOT Pitfall or Pitfall 2. You were a guy going through a jungleish setting. I remember you could swing on vines and I remember you could go through a top path or a bottom path. I also remember there being bats.
-I THINK it was 12-15 years ago
-The exact machine I played was at a drug store in Williamsport, PA. (In Giant Plaza) The drugstore is not there anymore, I think it might have been a Rite Aid or maybe not a chain drugstore. (Here is the exact location - The Giant Plaza)

I realize that probably the only thing to work off of here is the description of the game and maybe the time period but this has been driving me crazy as an avid video game player. Please help me Hive!

P.S. If you think of anything else that could be assistance let me know and I will try to help.

Name-that-song filter: Trippy jungle drum / xylophone beat?

Name-that-song-filter: I watched a high school play yesterday where a song I've heard before was used as the main theme music. I may have heard it previously in the context of binaural beats or "mind songs" or whatnot. It's entirely instrumental, although it is probably synthesized. Drums and a xylophone are used heavily, I think. I'd use words such as jungle and trippy to describe it. Thanks very much in advance!

A Starbucks Gift Card Should Work, Right?

What was awesome to have when you lived in the jungle? My sister is going to do research on orangutans in Indonesia sometime next year. Her birthday is in November and I'd like to get her something incredibly useful for her trip. From what I understand she'll be living, quite literally, in the jungle, without electricity or running water. Have you or has someone you know done something like this before? What one item, that can be purchased by a poor law student for $50 or less, were you SO glad you had? I was thinking of a really nice raincoat, but good ones are a little bit out of my price range. Having never lived in the jungle, I'm a little stumped. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Help Me Research!

I'm researching a very specific time period in American history for a paper and I need some help finding sources of information! I am writing a paper in which I will discuss Upton Sinclair, The Jungle, and the actual state of the US meat/food industry during that time in history.

I could really use some help in finding sources for this paper. Websites are alright I suppose but books are what I'm really looking for.

Topics of interest:
Upton Sinclair biographical information
Information on the meat/food industry during the early 1900s
Reforms that happened as a result of Sinclair writing The Jungle

A piano, a viola and a jungle book. Music assistence, please. Three pieces of music, as follows:

A piano:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_U--crJlzHs

A viola:
http://datadragon.com/education/instruments/sounds/viola.aif

A junglebook:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0013ADY2W/ref=dm_mu_dp_trk1?ie=UTF8&qid=1207344880&sr=8-3

As for the last song, I'm more interested in if anyone can recommend an artist or song that has that 50s lounge, exotic (perhaps tacky) sound to it (and I'm pretty sure the overture from the Jungle Book is American in style, but if there is actually an Indian derivation, I would be much more interested). Thank you very very much!

Where could I find a list of the top-selling/played jungle/drum-and-bass/2-step songs of previous years, in particular 1998-2001? My google-fu just doesn't seem to be working here... I'm looking for a few particular tracks that I've completely lost in the haze of those years, but would probably remember if I saw the track names+artist.

History of Breakbeat

What books/websites are there which go into detail about the history of specific breaks? I'm looking for information as detailed and clearly explained as this fascinating video on the Amen break. I'd prefer something which is more academic in style. If there is a Routledge publication that has a title something like 'Subaltern Sampling: The History of Musical Excerpts in Modern Electronic Music' I would be delighted.

I'd be even more joyful if it came with a CD, like a traditional history of music textbook. That would be awesome. Why, yes, I am a dull person with a whole heap of textbooks on the history of music! However did you know?

Which microphone should I buy?

Which microphone should I buy to do fieldwork in the jungle? I'm looking for a microphone to use to do some linguistic fieldwork with some indigenous communities in South America, but I'm not sure what kind to buy.

My needs are a bit unique, so let me explain a bit more:

I do not want a unidirectional mic (this is not for interviews); this one has to be able to capture surrounding speech – I want to, for example, hang it from a tree and record speech in a 5m radius. Also, it should be battery-powered.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks!

Do people still make Ragga-Jungle?

Do people still make Ragga-Jungle? Jump-up? If so, can you recommend some artists to go look for. I used to be big into Jungle. Do people make stuff nowadays that has the same style and sound as the music coming out in the mid-nineties? I miss hearing Barrington Levy singing over crazy drum loops.

So let's say you're a white dude wandering around in the Amazon. Or whatever. Are there actually still indigenous people anywhere in the world that would chase you down and attempt to kill you with bows and arrows, without provocation besides territorial invasion, a la this terrible movie I'm watching? Yeah, ok, not everyone has internet access, but I have a hard time believing that anyone on the planet is that far removed from the outside world.

Gimme back the necklace, whitey.

Help me identify this late-70s or early-80s American television movie, please. Aired on ABC during the era of "The Love Boat" and "Fantasy Island".

Several attractive white twentysomethings vacationing on a Polynesian island day-trek into the mountain wilderness. An unhappy encounter with a jungle-dwelling native leads to the death of the native, the theft of his tribal necklace and our fair protagonists fleeing through the forest from the dead man's angered relatives. In the ensuing complications at least one of the hikers dies, the result of falling over a waterfall.

The story climaxes with the exhausted hikers cornered by an angry tribesman. Wielding his deadly spear, the man approaches, intent upon, we expect, grisly vengeance. But a twist! The noble native, in a move which makes us question just who the "savages" may be, opts not to spill more blood, reclaims with his spear the stolen necklace and solemnly sends the survivors away. The final shot reveals that the hikers were only a few hundred yards from the safety of their beach resort.

Anyone have any ideas of the name of this flick?

What's that "Shaman" song/artist?

I'm trying to find an old drum and bass/jungle/mc track (or artist), possibly called or by "The Shaman." Every time I hear it I hunt with no luck. I've had this underground no-label mix for years which has a really hip track on it -- "...the Shaman sees all and we will manage..." -- "...visionary thoughts that paralyze: the Shaman."

This was a drum and bass track as I heard it but the actual song or artist might not be specifically of the genre, could have just been a remix. By the way the song lyrics are, it seems as though the MC might be named "The Shaman" but I haven't been able to find anything with that lead either.
