Charge a really dead battery, even if it damages the battery.

How can I recharge my nearly-completely-drained car battery so that it will work long enough to drive it to get crushed? I'm hoping to avoid buying a brand new battery just to have it crushed. My car qualifies for a $1,000 rebate if I crush it, due to some "gross polluter" laws. To qualify, I have to drive it to the crusher under it's own power, and it has to demonstrate that it can start up and run on its own. But I've been letting it sit unused for months. Battery worked before, but now it's dead. I tried jumping it, with the hope that after a 45 minute drive to the dismantlers, it would be charged up enough to start again.

But even revving at 3,000 rpm, I could barely get it to turn over once! And the jumper cables were hot after-wards!

I have to do this on Saturday, or I won't ever get to do it. Is there a tricky way to charge a battery, maybe a way that will ultimately destroy it but will work for a week or two? Can I get some old AC adapter and use it as a trickle charger? How much voltage can I run through it? If I overcharge it overnight, will the battery explode in my room?

Recommend me an inexpensive hi-tech jump rope.

I'm in the market for a skipping rope or jump rope. Recommend me a high-tech jump rope, please! I love gadgets and want to buy a properly weighted jump rope, possibly with something that counts the number of repetitions, or something that tracks different cadence metrics.

Jump ropes are clearly a low tech exercise tool, but I'm looking for one that would befit somebody who doesn't have much time to exercise yet wants to repeatedly skip the latest rope technology. I've used exercise gadgets like swim stroke cadence timers, pedometers, and other (inexpensive) gadgets before but don't know where to begin with jump ropes and the attendant CPU's. Cheers.

I am interested in more background regarding this video of a car attempting a jump over a river. It's a yellow car (I think an older Lincoln Mark series) with with stubby wings, a semi-functional parachute system, and what looks like rocket assist. To the extent I could deal with reading any of the 2,500+ youtube comments (and using with the "show" quality filter), they were the useless.

What should I call it when a band is finishing a song and the guitarist hits the last chord while jumping in the air and jack knifing his/her legs back? I guess it's a way of putting an exclamation mark on the song, and, I suppose, to make sure that the other members of the band know that the song is ending here and not going around again. Should I just call it a "jump kick" or is there some preferred term among musicians. Any other insights into this practice are welcome, since I'm not a musician. This is for a documentary.

I want a high intensity, low-impact workout that I can do every single day, indoors, with minimal space requirements. Jumping rope in my apartment lobby is absolutely perfect except that my feet and knees can't do it daily. Fifteen minutes of high-intensity exercise wakes me up in the morning and gives me a boost for the entire day, so I'd like to do it everyday. However, this seems to cause understandable wear and tear on my body. I have limited space and a low-ceiling in my apartment. Cheap, folding exercise bikes appear to break pretty quick if you use them every day. Expensive exercise bikes are too expensive and I wouldn't look forward to moving one when my lease is up.

I am considering purchasing one of those mini-exercise bikes that's just pedals and resistance. Then I could use either my feet or my arms.

Maybe I just need to condition my feet and knees over time for the jump rope. But, I have flat feet so there may be significant structural issues. I am looking into better shoes and getting a rubberized mat.

Maybe there's something super easy that I'm missing. I don't mind a learning curve, so it can be pretty weird as long as it doesn't put undue wear and tear on the body.

Anti Jump Amok?

I have an .exe file called "Anti Jump Amok" on my computer, under the folder C:\Program Files\PLATFORMELSE. I didn't download this or create the folder. What is this? Should I delete it? Is it something important? Nothing happens when I open the file. Also of note is that when my computer freezes and I press Ctrl+Alt+Del, Anti Jump Amok.exe is shown as one of the processes running.

I know similar questions have been asked, but i wana know about mountain bike jumping. i am crap at riding with flat pedals, and i can hardly get any air. should i learn on a bmx first? should balance and manipulation be tried on a small 20 incher first then progress to the mountain bike? should i learn with flat pedals first? edo

Does anyone know the origin of the phrases 'after the jump' or 'more after the jump'? It's something I've seen increasingly used online and although I sort of understand what it means, it would also be nice to know who said it first. I've attempted a google but all I seem to get are uses of the phrase rather than definitions.
