I want to start a log of films I see, to include director, lead actors, genre, date viewed, etc, and my own review of the flick. This is for my own use only. Can anyone offer a recommendation for software to use/how to set it up in something standard like Excel so that I can search on any category but still have somewhat extensive space for my eloquent prose? Might also extend its use to books and music. I'm a mac user. Thanks!

My boss, the professor, has accepted the challenge of starting a new electronic academic journal to be self-published by the professional organisation that she currently heads. Is there a free website when I can view and print articles from old copies of the journal of "The American Philosophical Society?" Even my local public library doesn't offer it for free in that they charge for printing each page and I have some very long articles from the 1800's I need to print. No emailing to another location is allowed. Thank you.

Howdy Hive- Back in the 80's I used to write in journals that were made of recycled paper. I'm trying to locate them (or something similar) again, and having no luck. The paper was gray, a bit rough & raggedy, and very, very soft. It was bound as a hardcover book, with a simple stamp as a decoration (one said 'art', another said 'dream'). The only drawback was that the paper absorbed a lot of ink, so it was necessary to write in ballpoint pen (or risk draining a lot of sharpie markers). Even if it's not the exact same journal, I would love your suggestions for something similar. I haven't found another blank book yet that is as satisfying. Thanks in advance, y'all!

I run a personal MediaWiki that I organize a lot of academic, business, and project related notes in. I also keep a journal, and all entries are in one category. The entries take the (automatic) form of "June 4 2007". So far so good, except when I look at the journal category page, I get an alphabetized listing, which is essentially useless. Finding a particular date isn't hard, but I'd like to see them all (or, you know, paginated to 60 or so) listed in reverse chronological order. How can I do this?

In a journaling file system like ext3, a journal entry is written before each file system change, describing the change about to be carried out. This allows quick recovery if the actual file change is interrupted or not carried out due to power outage or whatever. But why is the act of writing the journal entry not susceptible to the exact same threat of being interrupted? [more inside]

My daughter (18) is a great fan of Bridget Jones. On her Christmas list this year is 'a diary'. Putting 2 and 2 together, I have been searching for a Bridget Jones Diary er, Diary (if you see what I mean).

You know the kind of thing. Imagine a "Winnie the Pooh" Diary with pictures and information (as well as being a diary too). But with stuff from the Bridget Jones Film.

Can't find one anywhere. Have the marketing people missed this wonderful opportunity for Christmas and 2005?
