My salary history is ridiculous and piecemeal, in part due to working abroad for much less money than I would have made in the U.S. and also just being generally underpaid. I am not opposed to disclosing it to employers when asked, but am afraid the complexity would be a turn-off. How do I signal to employers that I'm not trying to be coy but that I don't really have a salary history that is going to be useful for them in determining my potential salary? [more inside]

I'm relocating in 2 months and currently doing the job search. How do I handle current job postings which do not specify a start date: apply anyway and state my arrival time (or don't mention it)? Is there anything I can do in the application/interview process to increase the likelihood that an employer might hold a position for me, or how do I broach the subject? Is it worth applying to a job that has a start date earlier than my arrival "just in case"? [more inside]
