Recently, I've had recruiters asking for SS#s to submit my resume for positions. My husband has had the same thing happen, as have some friends. Is this the newest scam on the block? (as always...more inside) [more inside]

Asking for a friend: How might she go about finding gainful employment in Chicago? She's two years out of college, graphics design major, working for a printer in middle America, and wants the bright lights, big city. Marketing would be the dream job for her. Any advice? Recruiting agencies? Pounding the pavement? The Internet hasn't worked so well for her.

What are some good job search websites/engines for Europe? I'm interested in jobs in international affairs, public relations, business and finance, advertising and marketing. I'm mostly looking for resources for Germany, Belgium, France and the UK, but pan-European websites are good too.

I'm a post-Ph.D. (not computer science, alas, but history) and have decided to seek my fortune outside academia. I have lots of experience organizing and researching and analyzing and presenting and teaching all sorts of things in all sorts of contexts, and have made my CV into a resume that shows I'm not just another egghead. Unfortunately, I'm coming up empty handed after several months of a full-court press, and I'm thinking it's time to contact headhunting/recruiting agencies that might be interested in someone like me. I'd love your thoughts and suggestions on which firms to contact in the New York area. [more inside]

While I am qualified for my "ideal job," in order to demonstrate this on paper, I will have to emphasize my side business. How do I list both my side business and full time job on my resume without giving off the impression that I am a distracted or disloyal employee. [more inside]

Does anyone have a recommendation for a job posting/administration application that uses either ASP or ColdFusion? I'm looking to implement something that will allow users to search jobs and submit their resume and will allow the HR department to post, edit, and delete jobs.
