Should I reapply to this job?

In mid-August I applied for a job and was brought in for an interview. After the interview I never heard from them again. Now, the same organization has posted the same or similar job. Should I reapply to this job or contact the person I spoke with? [more inside]

Applying for the job next door.

I want to apply for a job that, unfortunately, happens to be located a few floors below mine in the same office building I currently work in. We're talking about 20 floors total in the building, so it's not a huge place. If I get an interview, how do I make this work? [more inside]

Reading to complete before a technical interview (CSS, JS, HTML)?

I'm scheduled for a technical interview after the weekend for a front-end development position. I'd like to spend some intensive time beforehand reading relevant blogs and books to prime the ol' noodle and supplement my existing knowledge. Could you recommend some resources? Are there questions you would ask an applicant in this situation, or that you have been asked? [more inside]

"We hired someone whose skills more closely match the position."

I've had multiple interviews recently after which I received a letter or e-mail to the effect of "You did very well in the interview process, but we hired someone whose skills more closely align with this position." This is very frustrating, because I feel that I am capable of doing these jobs, and it's kept me from applying for future jobs because I'm second-guessing myself. [more inside]

Hire me! Or, you know, convince someone else to do it for you.

I'm applying for post-grad school jobs. One of them, a bit of a long shot, is within my close-knit current office. Others are elsewhere in and outside of the organization. Difficulty: my two best references are not only in this office but running the first job search. How in the world do I manage this? [more inside]

I am interviewing for a network engineering position. They like me and my knowledge base. However, I have never worked with the actual model of equipment they use. Switching jobs, resume question

My girlfriend has an interview for a job later this week. She is currently employed, but this new job offers much more than what she is currently receiving. She really wants to use her current job on her resume since it is directly related to the field and good experience, but the possibility of losing her current job if the prospective employer contacts them is a risk she does not want to take.

Anyone have some recommendations on how this situation should be handled? [more inside]
