Should I temporarily relocate 70 miles from home to find a good job?

I have a house and a husband I'd like to keep. However, it seems like the only way to do this is to temporarily relocate myself 70 miles away where the job market is better. Is this a good idea? [more inside]

LinkedIn Endorsements - Trim to the few "best" or show them all?

I've often called my career in architecture glorified itinerant work. The fact is that I need to go where the jobs are. So, despite having confidence in my position for the next six months to two years, I recently decided to start brushing up my public facing networking tools. In particular this means LinkedIn, and I decided to send a request for recommendations to many folks I have worked with over the past decade and a half at several positions. The result has been pretty gratifying to my ego, but now I realize I need to better understand the etiquette and strategy of how best to post them. [more inside]

Accepted a job, haven't started, don't want to anymore.

This all happened in a week - I verbally accepted a job offer from A company at the beginning of this week on the agreement that I bring in the rest of the signed contract next week when I start. Since then I've had an interview with B company (I applied to B before I accepted A) and received another offer which I prefer. I think I want to take up B's offer, what do I say to A company? I know it's bad practice, is there anyway to make it better? [more inside]

Will Company A wait for me while I interview at Company B? (3-4 weeks from now?)

I am likely to soon get a job offer from Company A. Yesterday, Company B called to schedule an interview for a few weeks from now. I would prefer to work at Company B, but if I didn't get the job, I would want to work at Company A. How do I handle this delicate situation, seeing as we're talking about almost a month until I would have an answer from Company B? [more inside]

Suddenly I'm the belle of the ball

I find myself in the novel situation, upon being laid off, of having a large number of potential job opportunities. I'm in the tech space, so most organizations work through recruiters, and I'm getting over a dozen calls and emails a day since posting my resume. Many of the job descriptions look like a good fit, so I know I can have my pick of location, type of organization, benefits, salary, etc. It's quite early in my job hunt, and I have the leisure of about 2 months to do it in. I'm looking for tips about how to keep organized and be in control of the situation. [more inside]
