The ball's in my court (I think). Now what?

I have been halfheartedly looking for a new job. My current position does not leave me much time or energy for searching, plus I have had a lot of illness in my family in the last year, which is time-consuming and emotionally draining. When a supplier I work with mentioned that someone in her company had left recently, I asked her whether she plans to replace him, and she said she does. I emailed her my résumé, and she sent me the job listing. In her email, she asked me whether I was interested, and if not, to let her know what my concerns are so they could address them because "your résumé is great!" How do I respond in the most effective manner? [more inside]

sent wrong copy of my resume

I applied to this job online by sending my resume, and after I was contacted by the HR lady, I told her that I had an updated version of my resume and so I sent it to her. A few days later, I then realized that I actually sent a wrong copy of my resume, which leaves off some of my education. It also erroneously outlined a job function that I did not actually do. The reason why it is wrong is because I didn't know how to word it precisely at first, but after a second draft (the correct version) I came up with a better description of what I did. So, do you guys think it will be fine if I email her the correct version of my resume and explain that I inadvertently sent her the wrong version? Or will it look bad? The interview is already set up by the way. Thanks.

How much should I listen to bad "gossip" about a job candidate?

I am sitting-in on job interviews for a new position in our department. I can ask additional questions our boss doesn’t pose and I’m being asked for my input. This is a great opportunity, but there is one problem. One job candidate is an acquaintance and former co-worker of a former colleague of mine. Over the years, I have heard a good deal of third-party gossip about this individual regarding his integrity, his chauvinistic attitudes and several other very negative attributes. [more inside]

My ADD interferes in my job sometimes, should I tell my boss?

Basically a quick one. I have been diagnosed ADD only recently, so the ethics of stuff is a bit muddy for me. I work in a library where exhibitions are frequently held (books exhibited in vitrines). The vitrines frequently hold valuable books, but are located outside the library itself. At the end of the day, I'm supposed to roll them inside, so they are safely locked. However, it already happened twice that I forgot to put them inside, both when something busy happened in the library right before closing (like yesterday I was helping out some students). This is extremely stupid I know, and I don't think there is any excuse, and I understand my boss being angry at such a simple task. But by 20 o'clock (when I close) I'm tired, and even looking directly at vitrines didn't trigger me moving them inside (usually I really do this though) So, would it be fine to let my boss know of my ADD? I don't want it to be an excuse, but I imagine it might be more understandable, and putting a huge note next time on the reception with "DONT FORGET" wont seem as odd. Nor do I want the fact that I have ADD colour his perception of me, but I imagine "careless" (which I'm not!) is probably a worse tag than "hyper". Please help, I have an otherwise good and friendly relationship with him.

How to say thanks

I had a job interview on Friday for a position I'm very excited about. Who has second thoughts about their dream job?

I really can't figure out what I want to do in my life. And it's scaring the crap out of me. At many times I really thought I knew what I wanted and then when I started working... I didn't, at all! I tried really hard to figure out what to do. I majored in political science, been involved in campaigns, and I thought I would just go to law school. But felt uneasy about the whole thing like it was just something I was supposed to do cause I would be good at it. So I decided to work a bit in a medical field, which was followed by living aboard for a few years. Now I'm dabbling in film and thinking about architecture. All amazing experiences but no closer to a conclusion. I feel super strongly about some careers and then realize I only feel strongly about those things because I admire the people in those fields and not necessarily the field itself. Does anyone have a similar story? Any conclusions? Can anyone help?

Resume tracking for the job hunter

My oldest cousin is job-seeking and solicited my help to find an app or website that will help her track and manage the versions of resumes and cover letters she sends out to employers. The best advice seems to be that you do a customized resume (and obliviously a custom cover letter) for each job applied for - so how to track those? She tells me that it's important to be able to match the resume version to the job ad when the recruiter does make contact (I guess so you can get the various little white lies straight!). And also to know what version you sent to the same company previously when they have new or a multitude of vacancies. I can't find anything out there. Any advice please? Any apps or websites that do this? What do other job seekers do to manage this problem? (spreadsheet? or something better?) Thanks
