Has anyone done freelance graphic design for American Eagle Outfitters?

Hey everyone! I've got a tough decision in front of me... I am lucky enough to be in a position where I have to choose between two job offers. One of these companies is American Eagle Outfitters and I would be working as a graphic designer in the corporate office in Pittsburgh. The other job is at yet another big PGH company, but for a slightly different position. I know people that work or have worked for the second company, so I've got the scoop on that option... However, I don't have any "inside info" on working for AE. Essentially, my position at AE is being called a "freelance" job, but I'd be working in the office 5 days a week with varying hours (and I'd be a W2 employee). That is a bit confusing to me, as (through personal experience) the words "freelance" and "W2" usually don't go hand-in-hand. ;) Anyway, sorry... rambling! Has anyone here "freelanced" for AE Corporate in the past and can give me some info on how it went/what it was like/etc.? I've got a big decision to make by end of day Monday!

Help me fall back in love with my job, or do something else?

I'm an artist with a terrific day job: it's super flexible, doing admin work for a non-profit that actually has a great mission which it executes effectively, it gives me time to do my art. Pay's decent-not-great, but an excellent trade-off for the quality of life I get. But after four years I have started to hate it. [more inside]

Offered Job, then disappeared.......

A month ago I successfully applied and received an offer for an internal role. Initially, everything was good but for the last two weeks neither the new management or director have communicated at all with me. I am supposed to start this upcoming Monday, but with two days to go I haven't heard anything regarding my new project or even where to show up. I have sent several emails to the new manager and still haven’t heard from them. What is your recommended course of action? [more inside]

Help me build a future!

I'm in a caring profession which is being cut and slashed repeatedly by government financial cuts here in the UK. I'm tired of having a precarious life where I'm not sure where I'll be living and what I'll be doing from one month to the next. Being in the process of transitioning male-to-female, I'm looking to build a little more stability into my life, so that I can plan a real future for myself rather than just surviving on a short-term basis. what do I do now

I was blindsided by a termination from my job last week. In some respects it was a relief because my manager was extremely unpleasant and working around her mood swings was spiraling me into major depression and other health issues. However, I am now stuck with a 7 month job on my employment record (which obviously looks suspect), a litany of the aforementioned health issues, and no idea how to actually recover from this. I need help. Wall of text below (sorry). [more inside]

I need a project. Or a job. Or a hobby. Or SOMETHING ... at home

PGY 4 Surgical resident contract not renewed - what now?

My friend would have been a PGY4 surgical resident this year but her contract was not renewed (aka she was fired) due to low test scores and slow to improve laparoscopy skills. She wasn't able to get anything and is now unemployed. Her program director has left her program, and never supported her so she is left without any guidance on what to do. Without any guidance she is a bit a drift. It would be helpful to know: 1) What are her chances of getting another surgical position 2) What are her chances of getting any medical position and how does she do that (she mentioned she would need to find somebody to sponsor her into the match) 3) Is there a job she can get right now? 4) Are there any resources (aside from her program) that she can contact for help? How do I list third party contracting positions on a resume?

The global, major well known main company has their laboratory IT work contracted out to a global outsourcing company. The global outsourcing company has hired me to be lead consultant for an upgrade project. So the work I am doing is for the main company. I want to update my resume to include this position, how do I list it on my resume? Also, since I'm one of the only people that has done this upgrade before, I have no job description beyond "Lead Consultant for" the project. I'm the extra resource with relevant experience. So when I list it on my resume I need to write my job duties as a combination of what I've done in the short time I've had the position, what I'm doing, and what I know needs to / will be done. Any advice in regards to that would be appreciated. [more inside]
