I work in a house that has been designated as a group home for 5 disabled adults. The program/company is funded for by the state. I am an hourly employee who works a full 40 hours (plus up to 10-15 hours of overtime @ time and a half many weeks). My checks include deductions in all the proper taxes and stuff that any job would withdraw from. It's a full on legit job.

Debtfilter: Employer provides signing bonus structured as forgivable loan (forgiven if employee stays with firm long enough). Employee leaves soon after, and employer seeks to collect on loan. Employee is now a broke grad student, so employer offers to defer collection of loan until grad school is complete. Question: If length of time in grad school exceeds state statute of limitations on original loan, does this mean the loan will discharge itself before it can be collected?

HR/YANML filter: One of my assistants had an on-the-job injury today, and at the hosptial, they failed to give her the pee test drug screening that our company requires. She's concerned that they may use that as basis for claiming that she refused the test, and therefore will be on her own for the expense. I don't feel like this is the case, but I wanted someone with a more informed answer to help me reassure her.
So, do they have the burden of proof if they claim she refused? How long after the event can they require it?

Lies and the lying employers who tell them. Six months later, the promised benefits have not materialized. Do we have any legal recourse?
