I'm looking for some durable dark blue jeans.

Please recommend durable jeans that would fit a 6' 2" male that weighs around 190 pounds with most of the junk being in the trunk. I've been wearing three pairs of Gap jeans in size 34" x 34" in the relaxed fit cut for a little under a year now, but they're all wearing out. I'd be willing to spend more money if they would last longer. I keep a wallet in one back pocket and a small notebook and leatherman skeletool in the other back pocket. I'm seeing small holes in the back and the knees are starting to get pretty thin. I live in my jeans, I wear them 16+ hours a day, 7 days a week.

I went to H&M last night at the advice of the GF who thinks just buying everything online in terms of clothes is a bad idea, though this is what I've done most of my life. Turns out that while their shirts fit me nicely, their pants, even in a 38" waist, do not. I have far too much junk in my trunk to wear their pants. OK, so maybe the GF was right and I should try things on if sizes run so differently.

I'm looking for pants that aren't baggy, but can still easily fit the section of my body between my hips and my knees which seems to be a little thicker than the rest of me. (I love how H&M's shirt's look nice on me instead of like a big sail like most of my shirts do.)

Bonus points for ethically made, environmentally sound companies that can do this without breaking the bank (say, $100 a pair, if that's not completely unreasonable). I'm not against ordering online if the sizes run similar to every other pair of pants I've owned, unlike H&M. A few pairs of dress pants in black, gray, etc. would be nice, too.

Casual (but stylish) clothing blogs for aging hipsters?

Casual (but stylish) clothing blogs for aging hipsters?

I'm looking for some blogs that feature cool clothes that you can actually buy. Like HYA meets Etsy but for stuff beyond Ts and hoodies. Whatup green!?

I give up... I can't find any clothes I like. I've been digging for ages now. Occasionally I'll find a shirt or two from the usual suspects (Urban, AA, H&M, etc) every now and again... but my success rate is low. Like 75% of the crap I end up with doesn't fit right or is boring or both.

I'm looking for some blogs that I can frequent to find cool clothes. Like HYA but for stuff beyond Ts and hoodies.

For style background, I'm basically looking for stuff built from solid fabrics (I love seeing the weave - like linen or canvas) in earth tones with some kind of flair (like cool buttons or epaulets or interesting cuts.... nothing crazy). Sort of one part military, one part Marxist, one part haute couture... Does that even make sense?! Fsssh... no sense at all... maybe that's the problem. Ugh!

Anyway, help!

Please?

Can you help me find online a belt (for jeans) i saw on a magazine cover? Hi,

I supply an uploaded photo. On the buckle, the script reads as either "tough" or "rough". (If you know something similar it is all right too...)

Thanks in advance...
What to do with my scrap clothing in Seattle? I have a bunch of clothes -- jeans, shirts, pants -- that are in some way or another useless to me, but I feel it would be rude to leave them with Goodwill. Most of them have holes in them, or are beyond repair, but still have what appears to me to be large, usable pieces of fabric left. Some are bleach-stained. I just don't want to throw them away. Is there a place in Seattle that would take my scrap clothing?

No ass. Need jeans.

Suggestions of low-rise jeans for people with no ass? I'm in the middle of losing weight and I'm at another pants size drop. Here's the thing.

Normal waisted pants hit above my belly button and high waist pants look ridiculous, like I'm trying to pull my pants up over my boobs. However, most low-rise jeans seem to be cut for people with a butt. I have none. It's flat. Like a fleshy pancake. And as I come from a long line of no-assed people, I'm not expecting to develop an ass any time soon. But because the jeans are cut for a butt, the back pockets hang to my thighs.

I'm not the most stylish person, but it looks stupid.

Anyone have suggestions for ladies low-rise jeans in 14-16-18 with small back pockets/no back pockets, or made for people with no ass? Front pockets are pretty important, though, since I cram them with stuff like a six year old.

Please don't suggest men's jeans. I have no ass, but I do have a woman's hips.

H&M LAD from NYC to H-Town

Is there any way for me to buy H&M LAD fit jeans in the South? I recently took a trip to New York and took the opportunity to shop at H&M. There are NO H&Ms in Texas, where I live, and the closest one is many hundreds of miles away, so it was a neat thing for me. The jeans there, the LAD fit, fit PERFECTLY. They are the first pair of jeans I have liked that much since a very expensive pair of couture jeans I bought once used at a resale shop, but at half the price.

I've been watching eBay, but there don't seem to be any pairs in my size showing up. H&M also has no catalog or internet sales. Is there some way, aside from making a friend in NYC and sending a check, that I can get more of these pants?

Alternately, does anyone know a pair of jeans that fit JUST LIKE the LAD jeans that I could find in Houston, that would sell in the sub-$40 range?

how to care for selvage denim

Selvage denim: care and feeding I bought a pair of Gap jeans and they had a little metal tag that said they were "Selvage" and the inner waistband says that they're Japanese denim. Do they require special care and feeding? I Googled the jean name (Gough) and found a bunch of advice from forums for jean nerds but there's so much lexicon there that I'm totally lost.

In short: are there best practices for these pants? If so, what are they?

Where oh where have my beloved pants gone?

PantsFilter (mens division): It took me 30 years to find a cut of jeans that I think are comfortable and stylish enough. And then Levi's discontinued the 567s.
These were seriously the only jeans that I have ever been comfortable in. (Tight enough in the places they needed to be, didn't look loose, but where loose enough not to trap my keys in my pockets and didn't tie my junk in knots.)

Anyone have any alternatives for a reasonably skinny 6ft 160 pound guy who wants slightly loose jeans? I'd rather not spend another 30+ years trying to find comfy ones.

Extra difficulty: No online stores or Big Box brands.

How to shorten blue jeans and keep the cuff? I bought some jeans at Banana Republic this weekend that, as most jeans are, are about 4 inches too long for me. I want to shorten them but keep the cuff the way it is. I've heard that you can have this done when you take your pants to a tailor, so my question is: Is there any way to do this myself with my sewing machine at home? This post on a discussion board is all I've been able to find so far, and they didn't reach a consensus. Anyone know of a site that shows how it's done, preferably with illustrations or photos? Or should I just save myself the hassle and go get them professionally altered?

Designer Jeans

I'm looking for a pair of jeans I saw someone wearing on the street today. I think I saw the same pair on Gwyneth Paltrow in People recently. They're women's jeans, low-rise, dark-ish, expensive looking, (hot!). They have a horizontal seam across the knee and snaps the size of nickels down the outside of the pant leg from knee to ankle. I've called several department stores and looked online, but I just can't seem to find them again. Help?

No more Levi's - help me find new jeans that meet my standards

Now that Levi's are no longer made in the U.S. what American-made jeans, similar in quality, durability and style should European diehards buy? [More inside.] Yes, there is an enormous difference - even Canadian Levi's are made of a thinner and less durable denim. European (British and Irish included) and Asian versions are even worse and flimsier. Really bad. I know from extensive experience, so please don't fob me off.

Like many of my boring-old-fart ex-hippy friends, I've worn US-made Levi's 501s for more than 30 years (lately ordered via the Web) and am dreading the inevitable switch. I'm looking for stiff, thick, no-nonsense American-made jeans (the kind that takes at least a year to break in) that will withstand everything you can put them through, preferably not as stiff, ungiving and unstylish as work jeans, but along those lines in terms of uncompromising timelessness and, above all, durability, comfort, and general robustness of denim, rivetting and stitching. They must also look good. Do I have a chance in hell? If not, what's second-best?
