I've played classical piano for years, but I'm just starting out with jazz and blues. A friends is learning bass guitar from scratch. Can anyone recommend some easy riffs or chord progressions we could play together?

I really like the music in this
Ibanez advertisement. Can you recommend similar music? Song/CD recommendations would be most helpful, but artist suggestions would not go unappreciated. And I guess it would help to know what genre(s) I should try listening to.

I'm looking for recommendations for jazz albums with a lineup similar to the one on Sonny Rollins's classic album
The Bridge, which has tenor sax + guitar + bass + drums and that's it. (
YouTube example.) I love how Jim Hall's guitar takes on the usual role of the piano since it's the only instrument in the ensemble that can play whole chords.

Name that tune please :: PBS is great, and the songs in their promos are actually just as good. Currently running is a promo that ends with the words; "Be More ~ ThirteenHD" (this is PBS Thirteen's High-Def channel which they broadcast in NYC & possibly elsewhere?). The music which accompanies it is a piece that I'd classify as sort of a Blues/Rock/Jazz instrumental.
My Question:
Name that tune!?!

In Bob Dylan's book
Chronicles, Vol. 1 he describes an esoteric numerological scheme for playing guitar, saying most melodies are based on the number 2, but that he's taken it to the next level by choosing what to play based on the number 3. Can anyone explain what he is talking about?
