I love this old Dixieland tune "Sing On" and in the chorus I can hear "Sing On," but I can't find the lyrics anywhere. There are other songs called this and Google has a lot of red herrings. Anyone have a clue where I can find the words? Here is a classic example
Looking for suggestions for songs to ask our gypsy-jazz wedding band to play! [more inside]
I love music and over the past few years have taught myself to be pretty good as a ukulele player. I'd love to get involved with a band--old-time jazz, dixieland stuff--and really learn how to make music with others. But all I know is how to play by myself. I don't know how bands work in the slightest, nor how to find others who are better than me but willing to let me "play along." How do I get started getting started? Thanks!
Okay what is the name of the kind of swing music where the band does call and response with the singer? Not the backup singers. The horn section. [more inside]

Seattle area jazz/swing bands (for a wedding reception)? Google offers a big-ass list. But you have thoughtful, intelligent recommendations. Please to hope me?
So the wedding planning is in full gear and we are having trouble finding the right entertainment.. Her parents want a band, we want a dj, so we've decided on getting a DJ/MC with a Jazz trio.. Problem is, we've visited a few, but cannot settle on one because none have been perfect. Anyone have any recommendations? Wedding is in Springfield, NJ, next early spring.
