What is wrong with my ear?!

My ear, just my right ear, has been feeling full/ stuffy/ like it needs to pop for approximately three months now, and only the most extraordinary effort of willpower has kept me from clawing off one side of my head. The current best-guess diagnosis is TMJ issues, but no one knows, and my TMJ issues have been historically stubbornly persistent. Tedious explanation follows: [more inside]

My jaw keeps popping out of place. Reassurance please.

My jaw went out of alignment by about a centimeter six days ago. Medical procedures, doctors, etc. all make me very anxious. Also I have basically zero dollars. I do have Ontario health care, but it does not cover dental stuff or physical therapy. I am under a ton of other stress right now and this jaw thing has pushed me in super panic mode. [more inside]

Upcoming trip airline travel question

I have an upcoming trip to and from Chapel Hill, NC. While there, we will be traveling to the Washington DC area. My return flight leaves RDU, near Chapel Hill and routes through IAD, Dulles, at DC. Skipping the flight from RDU would save about four hours of driving back to North Carolina and realistically provide another full day in the DC area. Can I do this? If so, what are the restrictions and gotchas? Can I roll the RDU-IAD flight revenue over into a seat upgrade? Personal experiences with trying to do this welcome. Direct experience from airline and travel pros also welcome. Speculative answers less welcome. Thanks very much! [more inside]

Help for jaw neuralgia?

In May, I went to my dentist for a deep root cleaning on my upper and lower teeth on the left side (with the right side to be done the following week). After the Novocain wore off, I had the usual mild soreness that has accompanied similar cleanings in the past. However, after a couple of days the pain started to migrate over to the right side (i.e., the side that had not been cleaned), at which point it gradually flared into an intense upper and lower jaw ache that was reminiscent of the pain of getting my braces adjusted or the pain that followed my jaw surgery about 9 years ago. The pain lasted off and on for about a month, then gradually went away – until... [more inside]

Should I up my SSRI dose or try a different brand?
I've been taking Fluoxetine 20mg for about sixteen months for my anxiety. It's helped a lot in terms of curbing panic attacks and making me less moody, short-tempered and irritable – a huge plus when you're living with someone. My OCD is also much better than pre-Fluox. CBT has also gone a long way in helping me manage the anxiety. [more inside]

Jaw Pain

The TMD thread, below, made me wonder about my odd condition, which sounds a little like TMD, but not quite. I get a pain in my jaw-hinge sometimes after drinking alcohol. Sometimes I get it, sometimes I don't. Once I start to notice it, I know I have to stop drinking right away. If I have another few sips, it will become EXCRUCIATING. Anyone know what this is or how best to deal with it?
