I am a professional translator, Japanese to English. I work almost entirely in comics and novels, at home, alone. My Japanese language skills are atrophying, and I don't know what to do about it.

Can you give me strategy and tactics for maximizing my spoken Japanese interactions, towards the goal of language ability, while in Japan? Those of you who have reached exceptional/native-level fluency
speaking, can you give me some tips, and share your experiences of the things that helped the most along the way, in terms of
speaking ability?

Karaoke in Japanese. Am looking for tracks with a karaoke version on YouTube for an event. This
old post has some great ideas, but sadly half of them have been removed from YouTube. What Japanese language songs do you sing at karaoke at the moment?! The more contemporary the better

I've lived in Japan for some time now, but I'm not very good at the language. When I encounter anything beyond the simple, and I don't understand what's going on, I feel frustrated, then angry, then ashamed, which undermines any confidence I have to speak the language, which makes it less likely that I'll do better the next time. What can I do to break this cycle?

In Japan, there was—and maybe still is?—a practice of communicating via allusion. I figure there must be a name for that, so tell me what it is.

Traveling in Tokyo filter: My nephew, who is in the U.S. Air Force, is traveling to his first posting at Misawa AB, in Aomori Prefecture, in Japan. He will arrive at Narita at 2:55 pm local time on March 17, and needs to get to Haneda airport for a 7:55 am flight to Misawa the next morning, March 18. He'll have one afternoon and evening in Tokyo to do a little sightseeing. Suggestions and travel help?

Japanese Classes/Bootcamps in Los Angeles? I'm looking at possibly spending a lot of time in Japan in little over a year, I'm going to be studying very intensely on my own as well. I'm worried that I'd sign up and pay for a class and it be kind of casual and not geared towards those looking to really learn the language. Thanks!
