In which of the 007 movies does Bond play roulette? In the novels he does so in Moonraker and Casino Royale. I remember it in the opening scenes of Dr. No, and vaguely in Diamonds are Forever. Can you help me remember in which other movies it's featured?

I'm on a search to find a movie that can live up to The Holy Mountain by Alejandro Jodorowsky. Please recommend trippy, surreal, psychedelic cult movies. I'm having trouble finding these films because I'm not looking for what "cult movies" are traditionally defined as. No zombies, no horny female prisoners, no giant bugs, nothing that could be shown on MST3K.

We've been calling them Fucked-Up Movies, for the lack of a better term. They blow your mind. They creep you out. As soon as you finish one, you want to inflict it on someone else. You can't stop quoting them. They're visually stunning, and have enough philosophical, intellectual, and spiritual depth to invite viewing after viewing.

Holy Mountain, as mentioned, is the epitome of Fucked-Up Movies. I honestly don't think I'm ever going to find another movie I love as much as Holy Mountain, but I know there's more out there for me to find.

I've seen most of Jodorowsky's work (El Topo is a close runner-up to Holy Mountain, Fando y Lis was crazy surreal and I'm still confused by it, La Cravate was adorable early work). I'm still looking for Santa Sangre, and I'm not sure if Rainbow Thief will be disappointing.

I watched Zardoz, a retro-futuristic parable laced with sex and violence and almost-naked Sean Connery, based on the recommendation of Hipster Musings. I also stole the term "Fucked Up Movies" from her. Zardoz totally changed my life, and gave me hope that Holy Mountain hasn't ruined all other movies for me forever.

Clerkdogs recommended Space is the Place, a trippy 1970s Sun Ra vehicle about liberating the Black race from Earth and into outer space, and I loved it.

Liquid Sky was chockablock with acid-trip neon visuals and certainly extremely weird, but it was also really eighties and terrible. Not perfect, but it's definitely a fucked up movie.

Head (the Monkees movie) is a lot more light-hearted than the rest of these, but undeniably drug-inspired and nonsensical.

I'm trying to stay away from too much gore, but Salò or the 120 Days of Sodom seems to be plenty fucked up, with politics switched in for spirituality. Still trying to muster up the stomach for it.

I also probably haven't seen as much Lynch and Cronenberg as I should, so recommendations for specific movies in their filmographies is welcome.

There's got to be more out there; I'm sure you're all about to embarrass me with my lack of film knowledge. Please do.

Do you know any fake James Bond title songs? I'm looking for songs that sound like James Bond title songs, but aren't. They could be parodies (like "The Man Made of Guns" by Kris Straub), fake title themes (like on Arling & Cameron's "Music for Imaginary Films"), or just songs that seem inspired by James Bond themes (such as Robbie Williams's "Millennium"). Any recommendations?

How exactly would one procure, care for, and live with a set of metal teeth -- especially if they were pointy? In case you're wondering, I'm thinking of the sort of thing sported by this gentleman here. And no, I'm not thinking of replacing MY teeth. Purely hypothetical. I presume no dentist would ever do this (...right?), so I'm wondering how one would go about creating such a thing for oneself -- more likely as something to wear over one's real teeth than as an out-and-out replacement for them. How hard would it be to make a set? Would you be best off setting the metal teeth in artificial gums made of some other substance, and if so, what? Also: If they're stainless steel, I guess they wouldn't rust, but what other problems would you have? Could you talk with them in? How easy would it be to cut your lips and tongue?

Responses from one or more actual dentists and/or metallurgists would be awesome, but I'll take what I can get here. Thanks!

Bust from Bond

Please help me with my sister's prom dress... My sister is graduating and I am making her a prom dress.
I've made the pattern for most of the body and the back, but am stuck on the front of the neck and the bust.
The neck/bustline of the orange dress worn by Solange in Casino Royale would be perfect for my sister's figure. When I contacted the designer of the dress (Jenny Packham) however, I was told that all pattern information is, understandably, confidential.
Does anyone know how I could imitate this cowel neckline, or if there is a pattern which has a similar neckline which I could use?
The prom is in late June, so I have lots of time to order and edit patterns.

Casino Royale

I have a question about the ending of Casino Royale, the most recent James Bond flick. Spoiler inside! My question is this: why did Vesper kill herself? I get the whole 'old love was kidnapped' thing, and I get that she was probably going to be killed by Mr. White's associates. I also get that she was ashamed of deceiving Bond and leading him into a trap. But why kill herself once she could see that he followed her and was killing the bad guys?

I saw the movie when it came out and watched it again on DVD this weekend, and I still don't get it. Any ideas beyond the obvious (JB has to have his heart broken for sequel reasons)?

NameThatTuneFilter: dance song, no lyrics, makes me think of James Bond and white sandy beaches...and i can whistle it... I heard this gorgeous dance song at a beach party a few weeks back, then again at a bar in Lisbon over the weekend. Tried to use my phone to record a sample, but that didn't work, so I'm whistling the main theme as it shifts here [550 kb MP3].

I think it's fairly mainstream; I checked this thread about James Bond samples but nothing jumped out at me. Any ideas?

A russian James Bond? A russian friend of mine (whom I've since lost contact with, alas) once told me in passing that the Soviet Union produced their own James Bond type movies, ie action packed popcorn movies in which the main protagonist fights against capitalism by any means necessary. I'd like to learn more about those, so I was just wondering if you guys could give me some titles or point me in the direction of some books or websites. The fact that I don't speak russian is probably a liability, but I'm hoping that it doesn't have to be.

An evening with James Bond

I'm moving into a new apartment and am throwing a party - an Evening with James Bond - to break the new place in. (Really I just want an excuse to watch From Russia with Love and Goldeneye with friends.) What are some creative ideas for decorations/games? Some details:
* The apartment is kind of small, but I'm not expecting a stadium full of people. 10 - 15 people max. Not everyone knows each other.
* This is my first time throwing a party not stuffed to the brim with relatives
* I'm hoping to rent a projector to show the movies on the wall.
* Most of the folks will be college seniors and aren't really the alcoholic lot
* So far for decorations/theme things, diamond shaped ice cubes, jello martinis
* I have a budget of about $150

Music that samples from Jame Bond themes? So, I finally listened to Kanye West's latest and the track that samples "Diamonds Are Forever" by Shirley Bassey reminded me how much I love James Bond theme music. What other music has samples from James Bond movie themes?

(Also, was there a Robbie Williams song that sampled the intro of "You Only Live Twice"? Or did I imagine that?)

What's your favorite movie where stuff blows up and people do outrageous stunts? Alternatively, what are the best martial arts films, I remember one trilogy I saw part of with some crazy ass stunts, fighting on ladders, some monk whose mother was a ninja, etc. Getting back to the first part of the question: preferably funny, stylish, and sexy. James Bond meets Batman. Fire away.
