I'm heading to Bangkok in ten days for about two weeks. I looked into using my iPhone 5 overseas and the answers from ATT made me think twice about it. So for 100 bucks I bought a used Iphone 3GS. I figure I'd just buy a sim card there and I'd be all set. But then I thought I should check. Do I need to unlock it? or jailbreak it? Is there anything specific to Thailand and Iphones I need to know? What's the process here?

I just jailbreaked (jailbroke?) my iPod Touch. What are the must-have apps, modifications, etc that I should get for it? I'm running iOS 6. I'm particularly interested in good Notification Center widgets, since that seems to be the biggest thing that can't be done through the regular App Store. Recommendations for good themes would be swell too.

I would like to give an old Iphone to my Dad for a gift. How do I get it off AT&T and set it up on an inexpensive network/data plan? The Iphones (a 3G & a 3GS) are just sitting in a drawer. What are the basics of accomplishing this. I'm not a tech whiz but I can handle the basics. Do I have to jailbreak it, unlock it, get a new sim card for it and/or reset etc.? What is the best (most economical) compatible network to join? He lives around Buffalo, NY, if that matters. I've trying searching this down online but the options are unlimited. Any help from experienced readers in narrowing this down would be appreciated.Thank you.

I have an iPhone 3GS, Version 5.0.1, Modem Firmware 06.16.05. Every unlocking method I've looked at states that if the 3rd, 4th and 5th digits of the serial number are greater than 135, unlocking could brick the phone. The digits on mine are 927. Is there any safe way for me to jailbreak and unlock my phone?

Please help me design a method for using an old iPhone to make and receive calls on my current AT&T wireless number by WiFi, preferably for free. Ideally, I would like to have this old iPhone (without service), sitting on my desk, ringing when calls come into my current AT&T number, and when I make outgoing calls via Wifi, the caller ID shows my current number. The reason is primarily that AT&T coverage is horrible inside my house, so the ability to do this by wifi at home would be great. But I hate the confusion created when you make outgoing calls and the number is different. I can think of very convoluted ways to do it, so I'm asking you smarties if you have a better way.

I see there's a jailbreak for iOS 5 that will work on my iPad2. However, I'm having no luck finding a good tutorial on how this process works. I have a lot of questions, and so far all the tutorials I have found are either "click the button and you are done" (I don't trust that!) or are geared for people who have jailbroken 100s of devices and assume a lot of prior knowledge that I don't have.

On Friday, I used Sn0wbreeze to update my (jailbroken) iphone 3gs from 3.1.3 to 4.0. Everything went smoothly, and I restored all my previous apps and files. I synced the phone a few times that night to get all my settings the way I wanted. Today, I plugged in my phone to sync it, but now iTunes is showing the "Set Up Your Phone" screen, with the options of either setting it up as a new phone or restoring from a backup. What gives, and how do I make it quit?

If I jailbreak my iPhone 3G can I use it with another carrier besides AT&T and if so, who. Will it work the same, will all the apps work? Background: I bought the phone from Apple after AT&T told me service at home was available. But it wasn't, they finally admitted it, and said they'd authorize a return to Apple for a refund. But I never got around to sending it back. I needed a phone ASAP so bought a Blackberry on
Sprint. But I miss the bells and whistles of the iPhone apps. Is it worth jailbraking and trying to use it? I'm not very clever with gadgets and lose patience. Now that jailbreak is legal I wonder if I should try to make it work. If so, what carrier?

I jailbroke it and once again at OS3.13, and after months of no dropped calls, no "no service" and no missed voicemails, suddently I'm getting all three once again right after jailbreaking with spirit. does jailbreak cause more dropped calls?
