Windows Vista no longer recognizes my iPhone 3Gs as a drive and I can't sync with iTunes. When I connect the phone it appears in the iTunes sidebar but no longer appears as a drive in Windows. My phone says it's syncing (set to manual, not automatic) but nothing syncs. So far I've tried: changing the USB cable and ports, reinstalling iTunes, hard booting computer and phone, and installing new iPhone driver. Any ideas? Thanks.

I sometimes rate songs on my iPhone or computer. I would like these ratings to persist in the cloud (e.g. independent of any particular computer). I want the ratings to get automatically uploaded to some storage site periodically and synced to my iTunes library (and from there or directly, my iPhone) periodically. Is there a way to do this?

iTunes will not download the latest podcasts from my subscriptions. Even if I unsubscribe and delete all my podcasts and then subscribe again, it won't download the latest ones. This happens for multiple podcasts. I've uninstall/reinstalled iTunes and the same thing. If I go to the podcast directly in the iTunes store, I can click on the specific episode and download it but it won't update in iTunes even if I try to manually update. Any ideas? It's driving me crazy and Apple won't help. My settings haven't changed. I have it set to check every hour and download the most recent one and to only keep unplayed podcasts.

iTunes filter: I store all my MP3s on an external hard drive, and iTunes is set to automatically sync my iPhone whenever I plug it in. Everything works fine, except when I'm traveling without my external hd and I plug in my iPhone. If I do that, the next time I check my iTunes all the songs that are on the iPhone have a gray exclamation point next to them. Help!

There seem to be some interesting plugins for doing tedious library management chores (like say, TuneUp or TidySongs). Googling produces tons of non-reviews reviews and noise, and I don't feel like messing my stuff (and time) with lots of try-and-see's, not to mention you have to pay for them (yes, I'm ok with paying for a couple of these things if they are worth it but not just to experiment). So if you're so kind to share, tell me your personal experience and recommendations for iTunes plugins, for Windows. If your experience if
s of something so vile I should run away from it, do tell too!

How can I search lyrics in iTunes on Windows? I used a program to automatically add lyrics to many of my songs in iTunes. Some of the lyrics now consist of things like, "These lyrics are missing. Could you please submit them?" due to a failure to automatically retrieve anything. I'd like to search for common terms and either purge the bad lyrics or move those song to a playlist where I can then run them through a lyrics cleaner. Looks like there's a few good Mac/Applescript solutions but nothing I can find in Windows.

I have a 4th Gen click wheel iPod. It still plays and charges. Today, I got the "restore" error message when hooking it up to my iMac/iTunes. I tried restoring it but it then gave me the msg "The iPod could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1433)" and directed me to
here. I tried the usual stuff recommended including: unplugging and replugging; trying new cord; holding menu and center button down for reboot; trying on other macs -- and still get the same msg. Although the technology is old, the iPod itself has hardly been used. Any suggestions? (Besides buying a new one.)
Thanks for your input.

I have an iPhone 3G and an old iBook G4 running iTunes 8.2.23, and this morning when I plugged the phone into the laptop iTunes no longer seemed to recognize the phone. iPhoto opens automatically and asks if I want to download my photos, but when I go into iTunes the phone doesn't show up in the menu on the left side of the screen and I get the spinning wheel of death. I've had the phone for about a week and it worked just fine with iTunes/my laptop until now. Any suggestions?

Can someone please tell me how to find the size of my iPhoto and iTunes files? I go into Library, find iPhoto and iTunes and then find bunch of subfiles, divided by date; but they don't seem to include all the pictures and songs. I am not renewing my MobileMe account this year and I am in the process of switching over the email address for everything attached to it. The only sticking point? My Apple ID is currently tied to my MobileMe account, so anything I have purchased from the iTunes store is tied to that account. How do I change this? I tried just logging into Apple's My Info site, but you can't change you ID if it's tied to a MobileMe account. Do I need to create a new account and transfer everything over to that somehow? (Can you do that?) Or is there some obscure and Apple-obfuscated way of actually making this change?

iTunes is ruining my music! After importing or ripping an album, an average of 5 tracks will skip and begin playing again at the start. This gets VERY stressful when I import about 5 albums a day and don't get a chance to listen to the music until a few days later, causing me to have to re-import many times over to make sure all the songs play through.

Itunes is not retrieving titles for CDs from CDBB. It tries to but gets nothing after a few seconds. I am not sure it is even connecting to CDBB or what error(s) are occurring. I even reinstalled Itunes 9 (9.0.2 - newest) and it still does it. I do get the response "This CD was not found in CDBB database. You can enter information for the CD and each of its tracks. If this is not a commercial CD etc etc etc"...I've tried several CDs such as the Doors, Pete Townsend, Roxy Music...all ones that have worked on previous Itunes incarnations. I am not sure if it is an Itunes thing, a Mac/computer thing, or CDBB thing. This is a new thing and wasn't happening before. I have had the computer about a year if that matters. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help and have a good upcoming holiday.
