Did my iPod Classic finally kick the bucket? It's a generic "Portable Audio Player" now, and Windows refuses to format it.

Winamp, I love you but you're bringing me down. I'm finally ready to make the switch to iTunes, but I'd like to preserve my ratings, play counts, and last play data. How to best migrate my media library?

Let's say one where to have over 100,000 songs they wanted to play randomly from a playlist, if Winamp has a 90,000 song playlist limit (approximate) before it crashes; what other software would you suggest that would allow for such an immense list while not stealing all your resources (sorry itunes!)

I have several different applications on my PC, all of which can rip CDs: winamp, nero, dbpoweramp, windows media player, and itunes. Suddenly, itunes is the only one which will actually rip a CD, but I hate itunes and don't want to use it. Any suggestions as to why none of these other apps will rip CDs anymore but itunes will? Better yet, any suggestions of how to rectify the situation?

Any recommendations on software alternatives that are more resources friendly than their mainstream competitors? Examples: Firefox vs. IE, Winamp vs. ITunes, alternate anti-virus programs, etc.

Organizing MP3s questions. I've got about 50 gigs of music on my hard drive with everything in its place, all nice and neat like. I don't have just random music all over the place, but everything is separated by artist-album in their own folder in the "C:\my music" folder (if that even matters).

How do I encode hidden tracks on my CDs that appear before track 1. In my CD player I just hit backawards search to listen to them. Is there an easier way than recording a .wav and encoding that? Why aren't iTunes and Winamp equipped to find these?

iTunes problem: I get a lot of intermittent static-y, crackling sounds when I play certain tracks in iTunes. The same track, played at the same volume in Winamp does not give me such problems. This seems to happen with about 1 in 10 files. What causes this and what can I do to fix it?

Is there a plugin, AppleScript -- anything -- which will allow me to enqueue songs in iTunes for Mac. Ideally I would like a similar system to Winamp 3, where I could enqueue some songs in my iTunes Library and once they have been played, have iTunes go back to doing its regular thing.
