We got a new cat a few months ago, and I've noticed that I've been itching all over more and more, and I seem to be developing a rash on my arm, and possibly even some eczema on my ear. I didn't actually make the connection to the cat until this week, but the itching, etc, has been bothering me for a month or so, and I never had any of these symptoms prior to the cat.
The thing is, I haven't had any kind of sneezing or sinus or runny nose problems at all, just the itching, and most descriptions of cat allergies describe mostly people having problems with sneezing and runny nose. Is it possible to just cause skin irritation in some people?
Would Claritin or Allegra help with it? What else can I try?

Can you guess what's biting me?
I've been getting a few extremely itchy red bumps, very much like mosquito bites, but they are not mosquito bites because they follow the pattern that chigger bites do: they're not on exposed parts of my skin, but instead under my clothing. It seems that something small is leaping onto me and then crawling until it finds itself confined by clothing, then settling down to bite. The bites aren't like chigger bites, though.

Has anyone ever had an itchy skin problem, with or without a medical diagnosis, seen a shrink about it when dermatology didn't seem to be helping much, and the shrink treatment helped?

Sometimes, right before I start to sweat, I experience a temporary but intense itching sensation, to the point where I'd describe it more as a painful pricking feeling. Does anyone else have or know of this problem? Copious but not excessive information after the jump.

Is it a good idea to use old neo-predef to help our dog stop scratching and licking at a pretty big hot spot? Or, any other ideas to give him some relief? While the hot spot is troubling him, I don't think it rises to the level of an emergency vet visit.

My dog's really, really itchy, and my vet hasn't been much help. She's got bumps, sores, and the occasional scab on her underside. Allergy treatments haven't been much help (barring prednisone which isn't really a long-term solution) nor have special skin-treatment foods. And she doesn't have parasites, either. I'm kind of at a loss.

ChiggerFilter: On July 4th I walked through tall grass to my neighbor's house, and came home with dozens of chigger bites at my waist, all over my thighs (front and back), hips, and posterior. I think I'm allergic, because despite all treatments, they're still itching over three weeks later. How much longer can this misery last, and how do I prevent scarring besides the obvious "not scratching"?

Why are my legs--especially calves--itching
all the time? I know it's winter, so things are dry, but I moisturize religiously and it happens during the summer too. I've tried Bag Balm, Eucerin, body butters, shea butter, aloe, hydrocortisone, exfoliating, not exfoliating, Cetaphil, jojoba oil, cold showers, not using soap on them, not shaving, and not using stuff with cetyl alcohol in it. This has been going on for years now, getting steadily worse each year, and a dermatologist a while ago just told me to put on lotion. What next?
