How can I install Windows 7 (via Boot Camp or rEFIt) from an ISO?
I think the Superdrive on my Macbook Pro (10.5.6) is on its last legs, because it ejects almost anything I put in it. (Meaning blank DVDs, and the DVD I burned of the ISO on my Windows XP desktop with ImgBurn). It's not extremely old (I got it refurbished on Christmas 2007), but still old enough to be out of warranty (at least I would think so).
What I have available:
1tb My Book Firewire External Hard Drive
4gb 1st gen iPod Nano, that isn't even formatted as an iPod right now, so it's basically just a 4gb USB flash drive. I know I can boot from it if it's set up right, because I've been using it with this [more inside]

I have a legacy CDRW which shows up empty when mounted in either Linux or Windows. Extracting an iso image under linux via dd yields greppable strings which indicate files are hiding inside. How do I extract the files without knowing what format or filesystem they are in? [more inside]

Swapping a car's stereo head unit: I would really like to replace my car's ailing Blaupunkt CD player with a more modern head unit, ideally one with a front aux-in for my iPhone. Before I embarked on this I thought it would (should!) be as simple as popping out the old HU, slotting the new one in and simply reconnecting the connector block. [more inside]

How do I make backups of playstation (psx) games I own with OS X? I was given a "chipped" playstation, and I've been buying cheap originals at the local Rhino games. I want to back them up so that my kids (ages 8, 5, 4, 1.5) can trash the copies rather than the master copies. I'm not trying to be sneaky pirate guy. [more inside]

Let's say I want store DVDs on my hard drive, and access them. I don't need the extras, just the movies/tv shows that are on there. Is there a piece of media access hardware that will (1) pull from ISOs of DVDs on another computer networked, or (2) allow me to stream video I rip from a DVD, and what software would I use to rip said DVD to a usable file. All legal DVDs and all that.

ISO quote source. So far, no luck with google, at quoteland, idiomsite, or the phrase finder. Thought the well read among us may be helpful. :)

Does anyone know where I can find an .ISO (or equivalent) copy of Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum's install CD? The drivers all over the web are made for use after the original install. I called Creative and the CD will arrive in a few weeks. I have googled for the last week, no dice. I hope this is not too specific. [more inside]
