Ireland travelers: Anyone have success using Ireland's local taxi services to travel distance of about 50 miles to save time and enjoy a different journey? Is it a doable thing or is the Irish cost structure just too high to permit that as an option?

I'm trying to track down a book which was written in the last 25 years (or so) about an American couple who inherited a house in the west of Ireland. The culture shock and concomitant problems involved with relocation, the house, the weather the people, etc. almost brings them to the point of divorce with each blaming the other for the decision to move. I've searched high and low but could only come up with a similar tome about an Australian couple. Thanks very much for any help.

Is this a reasonable time line for a visit in Ireland? We plan to bus the first four days then rent a car. 4/25 Arrival 8:35am Dublin Castle & Guiness Brewery 4/26 check out sites in Dublin / Cathedral / Kells / St Stephens Park 4/27 Drive west - stop Trim - end in Galway 4/28 Galway - explore Cliffs 4/29 Drive up to Belfast stop in Monaghan 4/30 Belfast - giants causeway - bushmills 4/31 Derry Belfast or drive south to Monaghan 5/1 Monaghan drive back to Dublin 5/2 N+N fly out 11:50am - Museum, Jameson Let me know if I am rushing it too much or skipping anything vital. If you have any cheap accommodations in Belfast or Dublin too that'd be great.

Recent poetry, fiction, histories re: Cork, Ireland? The question title says it all, except maybe to clarify: not looking for authors from Cork so much as stories about or set in Cork. Even better if it's something that is likely to be on the shelves at a book store in the US. Thanks.

I'm working in a gallery in Ireland and we are trying to get an Eiki SL-0 16mm film projector, we ordered one on ebay from the US but it arrived damaged, we've contacted someone in Dublin about fixing it but he doesn't think it's worth his time and another person in Amsterdam who also doesn't think it's worth fixing. Does anyone know someone in Europe where we could get another Eiki 16mm projector in working order or does anyone know someone in UK/Ireland who loves fixing these machines and would be willing to take it on?
