Ireland travelers: Anyone have success using Ireland's local taxi services to travel distance of about 50 miles to save time and enjoy a different journey? Is it a doable thing or is the Irish cost structure just too high to permit that as an option?

I'm trying to track down a book which was written in the last 25 years (or so) about an American couple who inherited a house in the west of Ireland. The culture shock and concomitant problems involved with relocation, the house, the weather the people, etc. almost brings them to the point of divorce with each blaming the other for the decision to move. I've searched high and low but could only come up with a similar tome about an Australian couple. Thanks very much for any help.

I'm working in a gallery in Ireland and we are trying to get an Eiki SL-0 16mm film projector, we ordered one on ebay from the US but it arrived damaged, we've contacted someone in Dublin about fixing it but he doesn't think it's worth his time and another person in Amsterdam who also doesn't think it's worth fixing.
