Appropriate headphones for an iPod Shuffle?

I recently purchased an iPod Shuffle, and while I've been happy with it so far, I'm sick of Apple's earbuds. Are there any respectable headphones that the Shuffle can power without a significant decrease in battery life? I've searched AskMe, and while this question has come up in regard to full-size iPods, I'm worried about the ability of the Shuffle's tiny battery to keep my headphones going for more than thirty minutes at a stretch. If it helps, I'm considering buying a pair of Koss Portapros (I've had great experiences with them before and the price and size are right). Any suggestions are welcome.

Flash drive won't reclaim free space from deleted files.

My usb thumb drives won't reclaim space from deleted files (in OS X)
I have a first gen iPod Shuffle and a 1g usb flash drive that won't "get back" free space when I delete files. The iPod works fine when I'm just using it for music, but gets this problem when I use it to store files. Reformatting them gives me the space back, and I can fill them up fine, but the free space never comes back. The iPod has been acting like this for months; the flash drive just started doing this 2 or 3 days ago. I'm running 10.4.9.

shuffling around

I'm thinking about getting an Ipod shuffle for working out. It seems to be the best choice, but am I missing any other great candidates? Over the past couple of months I've started running with great success. However, I recently started running inside due to the cold weather and find myself increasingly bored during the running sessions. So, I've made the decision to get an Mp3 player. I don't have much to spend (probably in the range of 100 dollars or so - less is best, of course)

So my thoughts on the shuffle
1 - 1 gig is plenty for working out
2 - it's really, really tiny
3 - it's 79 bucks
4 - it's got a clip

My concerns are
1 - the lack of replaceable battery
2 - the lack of screen
3 - small storage size when I use it while not working out (i.e. in the car or something)

So my question to the mefolk(s) is should I get the shuffle? Is there some cheaper alternative that's just as reliable and is just as light?

Bonus for any anecdotes about personal use. Did you kick yourself after for not buying a different mp3 player? Or are you happy with your purchase?

Why won't my iPod Shuffle play anything in the order I've set?

Why won't my iPod Shuffle play anything in the order I've set when in "play in order" mode? I just won an iPod Shuffle and have been using it happily to play podcasts while I work. I want to set up a playlist in iTunes with my podcasts in the order I'd like to hear them, then place my iPod into "play in order" mode and listen to them in that order. Seems painfully simple, but it isn't working. The problem is, the "play in order" mode does not match the order I set, ever. I'm not sure what order it's using, however I was able to find a thread indicating the "play in order" mode is actually "alphabetical order" mode.

With this problem in mind, this morning after I set the playback order I wanted, I disconnected then reconnected my iPod. The playlist displayed in iTunes continues to match the order I've set up, but no matter what I do, I can't get the iPod to play back in that order. Is this a known issue for the Shuffle and if so, is there any workaround to it?

The Skinny on Ipods for the Uninitiated

I'm about to be the last person in the world to get an IPod (Shuffle) and was recently informed that you can only play ITunes music or mp3s ripped from your CDs. In other words, no mp3s from "other sources." I've looked everywhere for the answer, so, is it true? Thanks in advance.
